I really appreciated Amy's honesty and vulnerability in this book. I got annoyed at times because I felt that she sounded too defensive, but given the context, I can understand why. She DOES get a lot of hate in the media, and almost everything she does, including the Lemonade video she did most recently, is scrutinized and hated upon. I know some of the stories in this book will stay with me for a while. I can't imagine being this open with the masses, knowing that people are trolls and haters. I also appreciate that she did her homework and discussed gun violence in this book, with facts. I always appreciate when celebrities speak on things that matter (beyond their own story). For what it's worth, I've seen Amy Schumer live and loved it. I occasionally watch her show but am not an avid watcher. I've watched her stand up specials and like them a lot. I liked this book less than <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30268522.Why_Not_Me_" title="Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling" rel="nofollow noopener">Why Not Me?</a>, so I couldn't rate it the same at 5 stars. But! I really enjoyed it and glad I read it. If I could, I would rate it 4.5 stars.

Amy Schumer is an incredible female celebrity that has gotten lots of heat and attention over the years. It's no surprise that she was tapped to write her own book and man... She hit it out of the park!

This is probably my favourite comedian written book yet (although Whitney's book is also FANTASTIC so if you like this one, grab hers too). I felt like I was hanging with Amy and just learning all about her, almost as if she was a new friend. Learning that she's also an introvert who puts on a show for her work felt relatable, since we aren't all what we show the world. Sometimes, the person we are by ourselves is hidden to the outside world... Yeah, that's deep and all, but still... Amy felt relatable. 

She's funny, she's smart, and she's got strong opinions (which she gladly shares in this book and I am happy she did). Her life has been a roller coaster, which I can appreciate. Yet she's still trying her best to follow her dreams.

This book wasn't an autobiography, it was more of a peek inside the brain of Amy Schumer. It's also not one of the self help books. There are tidbits of guidance and recommendations, but that's not the goal of this book. This book is fun, friendly, and just a nice hideaway from the outside world.

Exceeded every expectation I had of Miss Schumer's versatility both as a humorist and as a journeyman of the life that inspired and fed that sense of humour. Her heart is opened for all to see, her life laid bare to scrutinise and absorb in every which way one wants. But all I took from it was the great opportunity to be a part of an introspective journey of a remarkable lady who just made me realise how much more of her I would like to get to know. I hope she keeps her colourful life embedded in her work, just as much as before, and just as unfiltered as always. I truly hope she writes again and the remarkable opportunity of getting to know Miss Schumer further along in her life comes along once more, in paperback or hardcover.

I like Amy Schumer and I like this book. There's a few stories that didn't click but this book shows how hard she worked to get to where she is and plus, it's a fun summer read.

3.5 stars | I absolutely adored this! Amy Schumer is hilarious, blunt and has this really down to Earth attitude about being ~famous and being ~loaded. What I was expecting a whole lot of sex jokes, but I got so much more. 

I really appreciated her honesty and her ability to keep the tone of the book light even when she was speaking about difficult issues (tw for physical and sexual abuse). Amy Schumer has a very lively personality, and I wish I had half of her self-confidence. I’m definitely going to check out her TV show and whatever movies she makes in the future.

This is my first time listening to a memoir/autobiography and it certainly won't be my last! From now on, I'll only go the audio route for these genres. Having the author narrate their own story is brilliant as such is the case with Amy Schumer. I had only heard of Amy when I saw the trailer for Trainwreck. I had no idea she was a comedian until I listened to her book. I could totally see why she was a comedian. She had me laughing at anything she was saying.

Her story brought me to tears. Amy has gone through so much in her life! My heart broke for her on numerous occasions and I wish I knew her so I could hug her. That's not even counting a few other hard times she went through that she only mentioned in passing. Hearing Amy narrate her story felt as if we were having a slumber party, just the two of us, while she told me what she had gone through in her life. The way she was narrating gave a sense of calm even while talking about her unpleasant times.

Amy is very relatable and I loved that about her. She has sections in her books where it's a list of various things, like things she likes, things she doesn't like, etc. A lot of the things she named were things I found I liked or disliked. A few I hadn't even considered, others had me laughing out loud, and others had me nodding my head eagerly. One of them that had me laughing was from the chapter Things That Make Me Insanely Furious: "People who say 'I eat to live. I don't live to eat.' I wish all ten plagues upon your house."

I honestly hope she writes more so I can get the audio and listen to her again.

Funny and witty. Pretty inconsistent on many places. But fun read/listen with a few moments that make you think. And cringe.

Some of this book is exactly what you'd expect, with stories of growing up in Long Island and lists of things she loves and hates that read like her standup. Then there are these super personal gems, about things like domestic abuse and gun violence in America, that Schumer tells with passion and vulnerability. I listened to the audiobook, and it was really like Amy Schumer was telling me her personal life story. A recommended read for young women, and also all people everywhere.

I actually enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. 

Amy Schumer is raw and honest. I wish her persona in this book shined more brightly on stage than her stand-up persona, because I like this Amy a lot more. She's candid about her sexual experiences, even talking about consent and sexual assault at one point that nearly had me in tears. She also talks about a shooting that happened at a screening of "Trainwreck" that took the lives of two of her fans and changed her opinion on gun violence. I was aware of her work with Senator Chuck Schumer, but I didn't realize it had a very real connection for her. I appreciated hearing her honesty on tough subjects.

Of course it was funny too. I enjoyed "Trainwreck" and I find myself chuckling at her stand-up every once in a while but sometimes I find her repetitive. Not so much in this book. I was laughing out loud listening to this. Again, some of the stories she tells in this book would do so great on stage or on her show.

Little things I didn't like (and the reason I gave it four stars): her reading of the audiobook can be a little monotone. After listening to Amy Poehler and Tina Fey's autobiographies, I was hoping for a lot of inflection and voice acting that I just didn't get from Amy Schumer. 

There are also several stories she tells where I roll my eyes a little. Near the beginning, she talks about how she's very charitable. Great! But she says it in a way that says, "I give and give so much my manager yells at me! I'm just  too  generous!" Almost a little braggy. She also talks about how she and her sister Kim used to shoplift in Long Island malls. She's so flip about it and laughs about the situations she was in that I found myself a little annoyed.

On the whole, a great book! I would recommend to anyone who enjoys celebrity bios and memoirs, especially if you enjoy the little juicy gossip bits.

Appreciate Amy Schumer's humor but more so in moments versus page after page. Her writing presents her voice well --almost as if reading to you in a personal stand up routine with some serious life lessons sprinkled in.

A few chapters were really good, some were bearable, I didn’t care much for the rest. It helps to listen to the audiobook in her voice. This was my first memoir of a comedian except for Mindy Kaling’s short essays, I’m looking forward to reading another one by someone I actually admire like Amy Poehler maybe.

I picked up this book expecting a few funny anecdotes and jokes. I don't go to Amy Schumer for life advice, wisdom or spiritual enlightenment. However, the book did teach me a thing or two. And yes, it was crass at times. I disagreed with Amy. I wouldn't want my future son or daughter to hang out with young Amy. Yet, reading her book did provide me with an interesting perspective from someone's who's family was a lot more dysfunctional and troubled than mine. And yet she's learned to live a pretty good life despite those things. And no, the solution wasn't money, although it certainly helped as she explains in her New Money chapter.

I always read book my comedians I enjoy. 90% of the time I'm indifferent to them. They might be interesting, but usually I find them lackluster. However, Amy Schumer broke the mold (like she does in many other worlds). She was unapologetic, in your face, and inspiring. She is funny, tackles big issues, an was honest and frank. It's a great read for anyone, even if you're not a huge fan of Amy and her stand up or show.

There were moments in this book I thought, "isn't this supposed to be funny?" Or, "she really wants us to know what a great person she is." But the further into the book I got, and the more her voice (I listened to the audio version read by Amy) filled with passion for equality and snarky ass comments about the men who tell her she's fat and ugly to tear her down, the more my comments changed to, "Damn right." Or, "Yeah, fuck them." I love that Amy is a feminist. I love that Amy is vocal about the shit way women are portrayed in the media. I love that Amy continues to argue there is more than one type of sexiness. That sexiness isn't determined by your pant size or perfect bone structure. And I love that Amy makes these points with dry wit and a screw you humor. She's lived an interesting life that I enjoyed hearing about. 

This book may not be pure comedy as I sort of expected, but it has its moments. Most importantly, it has a message: love yourself. And fuck everyone else who tries to prevent that from happening.

Refreshing, candid, and surprisingly serious at times, I loved Amy Schumer's narration of her essays. Definitely a must-listen of Summer 2016.

I have always had an aversion to comedians, and I can't remember why. Slowly, recently, I am warming back up to them. I suppose that my main problem was the idea that many comedians make fun of other people, and that didn't sit well with me. While I haven't seen any of Amy Schumer's comedy, I was still intrigued enough to read her book. Even if I don't end up liking her comedy, this was still surprisingly good. Amy had depth to her writing and her stories that I simply didn't expect. Her quips were refreshingly honest and I really connected to some of the feelings she says she has, especially about her being an introvert living in an extrovert's world. She made it clear that she is simply a normal person with a normal background, normal problems and normal reactions to said problems. While it's obvious she's not quite "like us" in that occasionally you are reminded that she has her own TV show, I was pleased with the way she had transitioned into fame and the way that she doesn't seem to have changed much from when she was buying her way into comedy clubs (that sounds negative I know, but she literally had to buy minutes on stage). I won't say that comedy is my new fascination, but I did enjoy this book and would probably pick up the next one she writes.

I love Amy Schumer's standup, and her show. We recently saw her live here in Orlando, and it was hilarious. Her book, however, is less comedic and more of a memoir of hard work coupled with sad life events.
