So, Better Nate Than Ever and its sequel are two of my favorite books. This book just lived up to my expectations, because it was good, but it wasn't special good - this book is quite typical queer YA. 

Quinn was a very real and honest character. I liked that this wasn't a coming out story and that everyone sort of knew. His expression of grief is one that isn't portrayed too often in YA; usually we get grief that lasts for years and years (which happens, but in YA, it seems to be the only type of grief). I read Federle's acknowledgements, and I'm glad he decided to go with this story, because it fit Quinn. 

The ending was also refreshing. (view spoiler)[Quinn doesn't get the boy, he doesn't get everything resolved and it's implied that he'll never see Amir again. I liked that Amir's dream wasn't feasible, because as sad as it is, things like that happen. Case in point: I'd love to be in theatre, but I'm not a good singer or dancer and I'm far too quiet and nervous to be an actor. I do think that some things were wrapped up too hastily and a lot of the plot could have been solved by, like, communication. People telling Quinn things earlier. (hide spoiler)]

I thought this was a very fun book to read. It was a quick read and I wish that it was longer. It dealt with some serious issues, but it was still really funny. Great book.

3.5? Its odd because I enjoyed it despite how often my eyes were rolling. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone or read it again though. And fuck I hate Quinn
