The Great Silence Leaving Convent Life

Helen Jenkins1996
Six women tell their stories about entering an order of Catholic nuns in Melbourne and their leaving during a time of great social upheaval. Each tells why she chose to become a nun and gives details of daily life in the convent. Each also tells why she decided to leave. These stories are all told after 20 years of silence, imposed by the rules of the time. Includes several photographs.
