The Headmaster
Reviews

A very surprising 4/5 Stars!! Well, I'll be damned! I enjoyed this book way more than I've expected. Great twist at the end (though I saw it coming since we've all seen this kind of plot before somewhere). Great characters, too. I like the boys and the Headmaster and our heroine a litter bit more than I thought I would (it took me a while to adjust and feel comfortable with Gwen's instant outbursting sexual impulse but yeah). A short, pleasant read that just absolutely caught me by surprise! Instalove is never my cup of tea but I'll spare this one from my prejudice because it was well-written, suspenseful (the creepy scenes were, indeed, mega-creepy) and thoroughly enjoyable. I won't talk much about what's going on because I couldn't do it without giving the whole story away. But if you like a Gothic-esque, suspenseful story with steamy, knee-trembling sex scenes, paranormal activities, mystery lady in a bride gown wander about the school ground in the dead of the night, and a plot (thank god, a plot!), then please check this one out. You'll thank me later. Find out more at: http://thebleedingeyes.wordpress.com

Short but fun. The writing and atmosphere really good; I wouldn't have minded this book being longer. I knew something was off with the school but couldn't place it, I had fun guessing throughout and got pretty close though. The Bride was actually kinda creepy at times (reading late at night helped). The banter between the Headmaster and Gwen was nice. Some readers may not enjoy the ending "twist" but I thought it was rather fitting, especially for a novella.

A VERY enjoyable read, my first Tiffany Reisz, but TBH probably my last as her other stuff is not my bag and I picked this up on the behest of a couple of the romance booktubers that I regularly watch. I am really impressed at the level of characterisation we got in such a short book. And all the characters met were wonderful, including the quite rude and (in the beginning) fairly abrupt Ed(win) and in particular, the two boys Laird and Christopher were a hoot. I have to admit to being a bit surprised at a couple of inclusions to the story as I had wondered early on about some of the language Gwen used, but that was answered in those other bits. I did realise very early on what the bigger picture was, the crux of the story and was desperate to find out if my conclusions were right, but Gwen's discovery of the truth at the end still had me sweating from my eyes a fair bit. Big sigh, no surprise there as I'm so easy to 'get' in that way, but boy did I feel it! My main complaint is that although I knew what the set up was, I was finding (view spoiler)[trying to work out what time period they were 'stuck' in (hide spoiler)] a little confusing, based on a lot of Ed's language and behaviors which seemed (view spoiler)[much older than that of the 1960s, Englishman or not. (hide spoiler)] I'm not sure why this book has been shelved by some as erotica though, a few sex scenes do not make it that and this story is very much a romance, unless it been done on the basis of the author's other works which I understand are erotica. We all have different interpretations of what it is though I suppose.
