The author's writing flows smoothly, but the story becomes dull after the halfway point. The protagonist's jokes become tiresome and uninspiring, and Annie's storyline lacks anything remarkable. The last hundred pages were a struggle; I found myself praying for it to end soon because I couldn't take it anymore.

There are forced attempts to create quotes in an effort to make the book more readable, but these fall flat. It just comes off as awkward. Boring.

My second read from this author and it did not disappoint! Another dark, disturbing read and even though I figured out what was going on in a few of the twists I really enjoyed the resolution.

An interesting concept

The Hiding Place by C.J. Tudor is an interesting thriller. It's a ghost story within a story. It's worth a read, especially if you enjoyed The Chalk Man.

           I really liked The Chalk Man, so I was excited to get into this one. The first 100 pages were intriguing enough, but the more I read the more I lost interest in it. It also seems like a bad copy of Pet Sematary.
The ending fell flat and there were too many lose ends for me to really enjoy it.
That being said, I do love this author’s writing and will be looking forward to any future releases.
