Such a beautiful book of poetry. Amanda has perfectly captured the nuances of what we have been facing these past years and I believe that this volume will be something people study one hundred years from now when they are learning about our time. I really enjoyed reading it.

Two of my favorite excerpts from this collection:

"It's said that ignorance in bliss.
Ignorance is this: a vine that
sneaks up a tree, killing not by
poison, but by blocking out its
light."

"Strength is separate from survival.
What endures isn't always what escapes
& what is withered can still withstand."

So I listened to this during the inauguration and loved it. This was recommended to me today and I Borrowed it from Libby and I’m glad I did hearing it is one thing but reading is was a whole nother thing. Will are world ever work together and rise out of the ashes or will we let hate and differences keep us down and hidden.

Such a wonderful poem that speaks many truths that will have you think and rethink while reading and will have you read and reread every line again and again!

So beautiful and powerful and inspiring. I can’t wait to read it again and again. To make notes and delve into the language and imagery. What an amazing gift this poem is to everyone.

Can we just pause for a second and talk about how inspiring this woman is. The day I listened to Amanda Gorman talk in front of the nation, I immediately knew she would be big. This Inaugural Poem is what inspired me to keep pushing because I was practicing for a speech at the time and the fire within me became fueled after hearing this amazing woman speak. This book and poem itself is the epitome of what America should be. A nation of progress and a nation where we do not discriminate others based on opinions that individuals who look down on others have. Instead, we should unify for the sake of our country and put our differences aside.

What a way to start off 2022 as we begin season 3 of COVID. Amanda Gorman winds words together in such a pleasing way, and these poems will be a perfect time capsule of what we all are (or at least I am) feeling at this moment in history.

This is the special gift edition of Gorman's poem she read at the presidential inauguration back in January. I didn't watch the inauguration but I've seen videos of her poetry reading. Gorman is very talented and her poem is beautiful and inspiring. I'm definitely getting her upcoming poetry collection.

Reading this poem was a different, but just as incredible experience. Goosebumps on every page.

You tell 'em Amanda!
5 stars because it gave me goosebumps and to spite WASPs in the reviews who are licking Harold Bloom's ass saying this genius woman cannot write poetry.

Makayla Reed

The power that this poem has will be everlasting in American history. This poem is absolutely beautifully written and shows the truth that America can be something amazing if we work together to make it into an inclusive nation. The foreword is also beautifully written by Oprah.

Cecília Amaral

A breathtaking, beautiful and powerful poem.

“...quiet isn't always peace, and the norms and notions of what just is, isn't always justice.”

If I'm being honest, poetry really has never been my thing. Or, at the very least, it's not something I actively seek out. This poem, however, made such a huge impact on me when Amanda originally read it at Biden's Inauguration, that I didn't hesitate to download this audio performance to relive it. It was just as beautiful and powerful this time around through my earbuds as it was when I originally watched it live. What a talented young woman. The forward from Oprah was a wonderful addition, too.

"We close the divide,
Because we know to put
Our future first, we must first
Put our differences aside. "

Beautiful poem and beautifully bound edition.
