It was fantastic !! Hard to Put down ! I was born in a hospital for unwed mothers in Montreal in 1969 . Although I was not in an orphanage or adopted my mother left me and my father 4 years later . I actually live in Frelighsburg where some of the story takes place . I can’t wait to read the Forgotten Daughter. The next book in the Series.

3.5 really, but needed more than 3.

I am so increadibly thankful i picked up this book. It was the most extraordinary Story i have read in long. Everything about this book is just wonderful. I loved every character and was left with tears in my eyes more than once. Joanna Goodman has created a masterpiece.

This novel, which takes some of its inspiration from real life people, brings us inside an institution and shows the way in which orphans who were placed in institutions in the 1950s were affected. Brilliantly written and heartbreaking, I’d recommend this for anyone interested in this part of history

This book was emotionally draining... in a very good way. I loved every second of it. It is shocking and gripping, I kept wanting to prioritize reading this over daily chores. The characters were very well written and each one contributed to the story. Definitely a must read

This novel was both sweet and terribly, terribly heart wrenching. Honestly, a great book for book club and highly enjoyable.

This story messed with my emotions, it made me tear up, it made me laugh, and made my heart happy. It is a hard story to read as it touches on tough topics but it was amazing.
