I loved this! It was such a refreshing change to see things from Moriarty and Moran's perspectives, and I loved how it was simultaneously a contrast from the Baker Street duo while all the time still showing how well they worked together, in a way not unlike Holmes and Watson. A must read for all Holmes fans!

I loved this book before I'd even read it, just because of how beautifully it extends the canon of the Holmes universe. However, while I really did enjoy reading it, it was almost as if I enjoyed reading simply because of the information I knew it would give me. There were times when I got lost in it, but it was a bit hard to get through, and it went a bit slow (probably due to its size, though; I have a hard time estimating correctly how long something will take to get through.) Sometimes I would find myself reading passages so riddled with allusions I had no idea what was going on, but the language and general beauty of the words fitting together was so seductive and convincing that I kept reading. Moran isn't a man I would want to bring home to my parents, but he's certainly a wonderful storyteller.
