A brilliant second book! I loved The Raven and The Dove, and I just knew this book was going to be full of twists and turns, character development and the worlds were more then expected, I wasn’t wrong! I love how The Hunter and The Mage expanded the world with a look under the mist. The storyline flows so well and I adore the multiple POVs, I actually found myself enjoying Cassi’s the most! Very excited for the third book coming out next year, highly recommend for anyone who wants that classic ya fantasy vibe but with a slightly different world building experience and of course wings and lots of magic!

** spoiler alert ** "I am no a Monster" This book was "chefs kiss". A really fun read that I think was better then the last book. We start with Rafe and Lyana apart, watching them grow on their own in their new roles. Lyana dealing with the prophecy and being passed on to another king that isn't the man she wants and learning more about her power. I like that they were apart almost all the book it made the reunion (their short reunion) more satisfying and I can't wait to see them together again and honestly I just really love them together. Dated lovers aren't always my thing but I will make an exception. Xander and Cassi had an opposing story arch almost where we saw them come together and work more as a team. Xander finding his strength and courage and Cassi dealing with the consequences of her actions and coming to terms with the truth. I like them as a couple as well, it was cute. Malek, as a villian is interesting. The best Villian are always the ones that feel justified in their actions. Probably should have focused less on making Lyana even more badass, huh. The Dragon hunter crew were a lot of fun and I enjoyed them. I loved Brighty and her backstory felt so sad but kind of bittersweet. And the last 25% of the book was so good. The Rafe cliffhanger was super frustrating so good job. They were well worth buying the hardcovers and now I am going to wait Patiently for the third one to come out on hardback so I can continue. Would recommend. Loved it.

Lyana wakes up in the Sea of Mist, where she learns about this new part of the world and the prophecy. She’s the princess people were waiting for to save them. Since there is no back, she agrees to stay and learn from the young king about her magic. She begins this new adventure with a new purpose. She will do everything to help these people that were struggling for many years. Rafe fell into the mist after his wings were taken away from him. He landed on the ship with people just like him, with magic and without wings. They were sent by the young king who ordered Cassie to cut his wings. Their mission is to hunt dragons, and he has no other choice than to help him. Xander is devasted. With Lyana and Rafe went, the only person left to help him get his princess back is Lyana. While they try to figure out the plans of the king Malec and the current location of Lyana, they start getting closer to each other. However, Xander doesn’t know who she is and who she was helping all this time. It doesn’t get easier for them when they start developing feelings for each other. There are so many things that I adore in this book but I think my number one thing is once again Lyana. I’m so happy that even if she was in a completely new part of the world she didn’t lose her confidence and also she didn’t forget about her feelings towards Rafe. She showed Malec that she is not one of these princesses that he can order around. If he wants her to help, he needs to let her have a voice. Moreover, I’m glad the author didn’t try to start any new romance between them. It would be too much. Especially that she just lost Rafe. Another great growth you can notice in Xander. He always was a smart guy, however, in this book he really shows that he is done waiting for someone who will protect him and the people around him. He wants to be the one able to do that. More than that, we can see that he is ready for a change. He wants to make sure that his people are safe and that he will find a way to save Lyana. That’s actually what leads him into friendship with Cassie, which is there to spy for her king. I have mixed feelings for her. On one side I know that she wants to leave this life behind her and start to pay for what she did. On the other side, she still does everything that her king is telling her to. However, it’s getting much harder for her when she develops feelings for Xander. I think Rafe finally relaxes a little bit in this book. For a short moment but I think he really needed to be away from his brother and the castle. He found new friends that didn’t know his past and the stories that were told about him. He could be himself for a short while and I appreciate that he got this one moment of comfort. Overall, this sequel was a good continuation of this story. I’m still a little bit confused about a few parts but I’m sure they will be explained in the third book. The action was well balanced throughout the book and I didn’t have any moment that I would be bored. The plot twist at the end was amazing and I think we all deserved this. I’m very curious about how the story will go on and how it will all end. I would like to thank Kaitlyn Davis for providing me this amazing book. I’m so happy to be able to share my love for this book with you guys! I hope you enjoyed this review!
