This was my second book by Tijan and I was really surprised how much I enjoyed it. The Insider had me on my toes and hooked from the very beginning. All the suspense and drama throughout the book, along with the intense chemistry between Bailey and Kash really kept me going. Since this book is a trilogy, there was a lot of ground laying that happened and at times it felt like too much, but overall, I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to dive into The Damaged!

Talented computer hacker/security designer, Bailey has spent her life idolizing billionaire tech genius, Peter Francis, never knowing that he is actually her father.  When she is almost kidnapped, it becomes clear that she will need protection, and Peter is the only one who can offer it, so Bailey moves into his estate.  She is inundated with siblings she never knew, jealous relatives, and an extremely attractive personal bodyguard named Kash. As Bailey spends time with Kash and gets to know him better, she finds herself falling for him, but that only complicates an already difficult situation.

The Insiders starts with a bang and moves along at a fast pace until the middle of the book when the focus of the story changes from Bailey and the danger she is in, to several other characters and sub plots that do finally come together by the end of the book. The romance between Bailey and Kash starts out as a slow burn, but once it turns physical, the emotional build up dies pretty quickly, leaving the passion feeling a little flat.  Some parts of this book draw the reader in, making it easy to keep reading, but some parts are over-dramatic and unrealistic.  Overall, The Insiders is a mixed bag of engaging suspense and romance with a good amount of an overactive new adult sensibility.

This was a solid book. I really enjoyed the relationship between Kash and Bailey, as well as Bailey and Matthew, Cyclone, and Seraphina. This is where the strength in this book lies.
But I felt like the story itself wasn’t entirely formed. Characters pop up and aren’t explained. There’s also a lot of them.
Also, nothing is entirely explained, like what Bailey’s father does, what he’s involved in, why all these things are kicked off to begin with.
But it is intriguing and I have hopes for the trilogy. 
I will warn that it does end in a cliffhanger though!

This book is not bad (see I gave it 4 stars) but it's soooo unrealistic in almost every aspect. But it's a book, with imaginary characters, so I just got over it!

After this, three things become clear for Bailey: 1. She’s living at her father’s sprawling estate, complete with bodyguards and the best security that money can buy. 2. She’s no longer an only child. She has three siblings and has no idea what to do with them and vice versa. 3. She is being guarded by Kash himself. Personally guarded. And there is a lot of guarding going on there and some of it is going to drive her crazy. A complete outsider in a world of wealth and decadence, Bailey has to find her way within a family that has more secrets than she could have imagined. One of these secrets could be deadly...

it started off really good and strong but then it just went downhill and the boy mc barely even communicated with the main girl about his feelings or barely even talked to her. we only knew they were together bc she said they had sex. but overall it was a good plot and they were cute together when they actually talked.

Ugh, I hate to do this but I did not love The Insiders. I always love any book that Tijan releases. It's always the best romance book to read. Yet The Insiders, I find myself struggling to finish the book. I could not connect to the storyline or the character. It felt a bit too rushed. It was one thing after another. Like how am I supposed to follow along and connect with the characters.

I think I’ve outgrown Tijan‘s books. I used to binge read them a few years ago, but the last few releases have all disappointed me.
The Insiders wasn’t an exception.
The characters seemed like carbon copies of characters from former books, the plot had tons of the same elements and tropes Tijan loves to repeat over and over, and the story itself simply didn’t hold my attention.
If you’ve enjoyed the author‘s last few books you’ll probably also enjoy The Insiders, but if you didn’t you might want to skip this one.

I think this might be my favorite Tijan book to date, honestly. I’ve read just about every single book she’s published—Fallen Crest will forever have a place in my heart—but The Insiders might’ve just taken the cake. A bit of romance, a bit of suspense, a bit of mystery, and a whole lot of drama. 

This book was so good. The opening scene is a kidnapping (it’s not a spoiler. It’s *literally* page 2) and you’re like WHAT and it drew me in fully from that moment on. Bailey is such a unique protagonist with a photographic mind and genius computer skills who is thrust into a world of glitz, glamour, and riches and has to figure herself out quickly. And then there’s Kashton. 🥵

Read this if:

💻 You like twists & turns & surprises. 
💻 You like some 🔥🔥🔥 wrapped up in your suspense. 
💻 You love a bit of found family in your stories. 
💻 You love characters who are flawed but know it and are complicated. 
💻 You love a good cliffhanger.
