The Last Legacy A Novel
Reviews

Bryn wasn’t as compelling for me as Fable 🫣

i didn’t know i wanted an additional pov from the fable world, but apparently i did seeing that i devoured this book in one sitting.

Knowing that this was a spinoff of Fable, which I LOVED, I didn't know what to expect. It is a completely different story but it jumps right in, assuming that you've already read Fable and don't need the worldbuilding redone. The speed is great and the characters are endearing. It's not Fable or Namesake, but it is almost as good!

still love adrienne young's writing style. her descriptions are vivid that it feels like im inside the story. 4.5 ☆

It didn’t quite suck me in right away and I wish it were somewhat longer—but this was a fun, quick read and step back into the world of Bastien. It’s more or less a study of the merchant guilds of the Fable world, with some compelling characters!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Adrienne Young has done it again! She has such a brilliant way of creating intriguing characters mixed with the most suspenseful plots. I got serious Peaky Blinders vibes from reading this book. The "mafia" vibes, the family loyalty, the scheming patriarch of the Roth's, and the hidden crimes all made it very Peaky. I love Adrienne's writing and I am so happy I got to jump back into the Fable world.

4.5💫 Everyone in the Roth family has a purpose, even if they don’t like it When a letter from her uncle Henrick summoning her back to Bastian arrives on Bryn Roth's eighteenth birthday, Bryn is eager to prove herself to the family, even as she learns the Roths are still engtangled in the kind of dirty business that got her parents killed years ago. Adrienne Young returns to the Fable world and deep dives into its dangerous world once again. This time, we face the dangerous Roth family. I love dangerous families. The ones that give off mafia vibes. The gang vibes. They may never be named like that butttttttttt we all know they really aren’t just your normal family. Anyways I should actually start the review. I finished it. I read every Adrienne Young book (that is out). This was completely accidental (I read sky in the deep then it just spiralled out of control). Anyways, I can say that this is my favourite out of all her books. Mafia vibes. The Roth family (even when you see them you know) I love them. But I need to talk about the actual book. Bryn. A hot headed, confident lady! Yes. Stubborn. Amazing. I love her. She was so refreshing compared to all the other protagonists in Adrienne Young’s books. You could just feel that she was amazing. I loved how she didn’t bend to anyones will, and she was all like you don’t get to control me anymore. I loved her character. The romance. The yearning. Ugh so amazing. I loved the slow burn (it was as slow burn as possible in 300 pages). I found that Adrienne Young has gotten much better with writing romances, but this romance did kind of come out of no where. It was a sorta I hate you so much I fell for you, but I don’t know. I didn’t really enjoy the ending. The protagonist had one goal, and she completed her goal, but she left it all when she could’ve fought to stay and continue what she started. She worked so hard and then she left. I get the message the author was trying to get across but I didn’t want her to give up her accomplishment just because of some complications, especially with how the whole book focused on not giving up and burning your whole path. The AESTHETIC was priceless. The whole thing was beautiful. The darkness of the family, and politics, and parties. Gosh I loved it. I do wish it would’ve been longer, just so that things could’ve been elaborated more on. 300 pages wasn’t enough for me.

4/5⭐️

Bryn is my new favorite of Young’s protagonists, a whip-smart and strategizing girl who is not content to let others command her fate. When she commissions her suit, I got chill bumps. And Ezra is delicious, of course, all surly and mysterious. Slow burn supremacy. My only, ONLY complaint is that I wish it could have been 100 pages longer.

So glad to be back in the Fable universe! The Roth family was so intriguing in the first two books and I was so excited to have the infamous family be the main focus this time. Bryn is such a strong mc, I love her. Ezra was great. I love the quiet, calculating guys. And he was always trying to protect her.🥺 So much happened towards the end. It was crazy. I really hope Adrienne writes more book in the Fable world, I’d love to see Fable, West, Bryn, and Ezra working together. I had so much fun reading this. Adrienne’s writing is amazing!

I really enjoyed this book! Adrienne has a way with creating these beautiful worlds and finds just the right words to transport you straight into them. I loved Bryn. I appreciated her character's growth. I have a soft spot for Ezra. The story was well paced so I never felt bored. It was exciting and had me feverishly turning the pages to see what happened next. Overall it was a very entertaining standalone!

3.5 stars. Another really enjoyable read from Adrienne Young, set in the same world as Fable and Namesake, this time following Bryn Roth, from the cutthroat Roth family. I really liked Bryn as a character, she was smart and quick-witted, stubborn and warm-hearted, and stood up for what she believed in. The story was interesting, and I really enjoyed the supporting characters, mainly Murrow and Violet. I did find the Mean Older Male Family Member a bit too similar to Fable’s story, but other than that, it was really good. Huge thank you to Wednesday Books and Edelweiss for the eARC.

I was sent a early copy from the publisher to review. Gosh you guys, I ADORE this world and was so thrilled when Adrienne Young announced there would be a stand-alone based off of the super elusive Roth’s and did she deliver! What I love most about Young’s books besides the stories themselves is her writing style and it really showed up on The Last Legacy! She really knows how to write a very straight forward and concise plot that’s so easy to just jump into and I never ever feel lost or remotely confused while reading her books! On the flip side though, she still sneaks in a few twists and turns in there that keep me wanting to read more. I also really love how fast paced her stories are, they never ever drag for me and The Last Legacy did not let me down. I was able to start this book while sitting on a beach surrounded by people, animals and the sound of ocean waves and had zero issues blocking even my mother in law out (ahaha) to dive in and meet the Roths! The Roth’s are brutal and secretive and always looking out for each other. But Henrik.. he’s on a whole other level of brutal but I also find him to be a really complex character and enjoyed NEVER knowing what would come from him. EZRA. He’s BROODING.. need I say more?! Ok, ok.. he’s also very secretive and not what you might expect and the only complaint I have is not seeing even more of him because I needed it all lol I love Bryn and her fierceness and cunning and she’s everything I’d want to me! This was yet again, another fun and stellar book set in the Fable world and I couldn’t be more appreciate to Wednesday Books for allowing me to read this early!

Highlights

There was family, and there was business. And there was more to the Roths than the name.

No one was going to give me a place in this family. I had to claim it.
Bryn is my new favorite of Young’s protagonists.
