I didn’t love this the way I expected to but I still really enjoyed it. I read that this had fist-pump worthy actions scenes, it did deliver somewhat but some were a bit underwhelming (would have lived to see some in Rake’s pov). The tech talk in this book was quite hard for me to follow because not everything was explained in detail, most of the important parts are incorporated in the dialogue and it’s your job to follow. Same goes for the worldbuilding, it’s mentioned early on that there has been a war with another species, the history or the specifics of this are also in conversations, so if you wanted to know more and the characters do not say anything else well...maybe it’s on the next book. I felt disconnected to the plot for those reasons, aside from that the characters are great, especially Adequin Rake, and the writing wasn’t bad in my opinion. Will definitely read the next book!
