The Last Widow A Novel
Reviews

4.5! this was soooo good. best one in this series for a while, for sure ! literally so fast paced right from the beginning and while it did drag a LITTLE during the middle, it ended with a bang! loved how the reveals were done in this one. can't believe I only have one more book with Will and Sara :(

4.5 stars. The retelling of most scenes from different points of view was hard to get into at first, but was so great once the story picked up (like, 7 pages in). Was also great at showcasing how it really is in a relationship, with Sara thinking that Will is thinking one thing, and then we see in his POV that he’s thinking something completely different. Loved it!!

The Last Widow by Karin Slaughter is book 9 in the Will Trent series, and I realised that when I worked out that I've already read and reviewed book 10. No, I'm not sure how I've managed that either! Anyway, this is a thriller, where white supremacist have concocted a terror plot, and Sara and Will get dragged into the middle of it. We swap between Sara and Will's perspectives, and I do feel these being labelled the Will Trent series is misleading. This really is a rollercoaster ride, where you gasp in terror one moment, and then next you're excited and pleased! I really enjoyed this book, and need to read the early books some time... *eyes TBR pile* but not soon! The Last Widow was published on 13th June 2019 and is available from Amazon , Waterstones and Bookshop.org . You can follow Karin Slaughter on Twitter , Instagram and her website . You can read my review of The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter here . which is book 10 in the Will Trent series. I was given this book for free in return for an unbiased review, and so my thanks to NetGalley, and to HarperCollins .

Confession time, when I bought this book I did not realize it was the 9th (!!!) installment in a series I had not read a single book of prior. I just saw Karin Slaughter and bought it. If you’ve read Karin Slaughter, you understand. Some fellow book lovers assured me I could read the book without prior knowledge, and they were (mostly) right. The Last Widow finds investigator Will Trent and his girlfriend and medical examiner Sara Linton facing off against radical militia and a threat of biological attack – so basically just 2020. As with every Karin Slaughter book I’ve read, I flew through this book and thoroughly enjoyed it. She is truly a master of plotting. While it was true I was able to enjoy this book without reading the rest of the series, I felt like I missed out on some of the emotional weight of the story by not having existing knowledge of the characters and their relationships. But I am very excited to read more of the Will Trent and Grant County series!
