it felt like the author couldn’t decide which plot twist she wanted to include in the book and just chose all of them. No one in this book has a clean slate. Oh and we also absolutely love when a wife tries to tell her husband that their kid is a psychopath and he just doesn’t believe her.

This was my first book by Camilla Way and man oh man was it a twisty thriller! I really enjoyed this book. I went into this book pretty blindly and I would definitely recommend doing that for this book. The first chapter had me hooked! I read over half of the book in one sitting and I never wanted to put the book down. 

The story is told in two different timelines in alternating chapters. You have a timeline from the 1980s and a timeline set in 2017. The timeline that is set in the 80s the reader learns, from the very first chapter, about a very disturbed little girl named Hannah, which is what had me hooked from the beginning. The second timeline starts out with a woman named Clara who is extremely concerned when her boyfriend, Luke, doesn't come home. There has been a "stalker" that has been harassing Luke, and Clara is certain that the events are connected. 

I knew these timelines were obviously connected but I wasn't sure exactly how. This has so many twists and turns I couldn't quite guess the exact ending. I found it to be a complete page-turner for me. The writing was excellent and the plot was extremely gripping. I definitely felt for some of these characters. The characters were so well-developed and so detailed that I felt I was right there amidst all of the craziness. The character and the plot fit so perfectly well together. This book was such a great thriller to read. If you haven't read this one yet, I would highly recommend it.

this book follows a past and present story line that eventually connects as you continue reading, so you spend most of the novel trying to piece together how the two time lines relate and why they are even important to one another. I found some characters very suspicious from the beginning but kept questioning myself as the story progressed, the author leads you to believe some people are shady but then you aren't completely convinced.
I thought it all wrapped up well too, a nice little plot twist, no happily ever after etc.
I found when everything was laid out and all the truths were shared and as a reader you finally have all the pieces to the puzzle, that it was all very well done. 
It starts as just a missing person story but it is so much more than that. A missing young man, who has a family history of missing persons. A girlfriend who finds out her missing boyfriends past isn't what she thought at all. And a girl who just wanted to be loved but doesn't know how to love herself. 
This took me by surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

This one was interesting! I haven't read a lot of adult mystery/thriller novels so, take that with a grain of salt while I tell you I really enjoyed the mystery part of this book!

The characters were good. There were some real creeps in here. There was a bunch of crazy bat-shit banana's stuff going on. It was dark. And the end JUST GOT DARKER.

The pace was kinda slow, especially for such a short book. I didn't really enjoy it physical either, but the audiobook was absolutely brilliant.

This book was beyond addictive. It was fun, it was tough, it was raw. I enjoyed it a lot. I didn’t read the synopsis before going in to the book - best way to properly enjoy a thriller, although I don’t always take my own advice! - so wasn’t sure how the two timelines would connect at first. 
A good thrilling read and I’ll definitely be picking up more by Camilla Way in the future!

This was one of my favorite reads of 2018. The story hooked me from the first line, and it never slowed down. Clara's boyfriend Luke didn't come home this morning. She knows he would never leave without all his things nor miss the important promotion he was scheduled to interview for. Beth knows there is something wrong with her daughter. She tries to deny it, but something is not right with Hannah.

I really enjoyed the dual viewpoints of this story. We get information about Hannah's past through her mother Beth's point of view beginning in the 1980s. Readers also read about the present from Luke's girlfriend Clara. I was amazed by how fast paced this book was. I could have easily read it in one sitting. The mystery was not only thrilling, but I was not able to guess what was going on from a mile away. 

I was also impressed by the accuracy of Hannah's central problem. It was obvious Camilla Way had done her research on this particular thing, and made sure that there were consistencies with it throughout the novel. I was thoroughly impressed by her ability to bring to life the horrors of be careful what you wish for. 

I definitely contracted read until your eyeballs-fall-outitis from this book. I stayed up way too late reading because I knew each chapter would bring a new piece of the puzzle and a new mystery to solve. If you are a fan of thrillers, I highly recommend this story.

           Despite my weeks of reading it this book is actually a really easy fun read(i’ve just been super busy) 

It reminded me a little but of the investigation in The girl with the dragon tattoo just not as many twists and turns and not as dark. 

Regardless I still really liked it, I figured that all the characters would have some sort of involvement in Hannahs life so I wasn’t THAT surprised when all was out in the open but I didn’t think it was all going to include Lukes parents.

Over all its a nice break from all the crazy series i’ve been reading and I will say this, during the times I wasn’t able to read I was still always thinking about what the hell happed to Luke. 

I definitely recommend The Lies We Told!
