2.5 need authors to stop breaking their characters up for the sake of adding a little conflict. what was even the point of that gigantic ass time jump ?? added absolutely nothing to the story. knox and emory were cute tho

Meghan Quinn writes all different types of stories. Ones that make you laugh and ones that make you cry. The Locker Room is definitely one that makes you laugh. I read this on my commute to work and got some weird looks when I was laughing out loud at my book, haha. This book had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn't put it down.

Emory is an interesting character. She's starting new this year after a long relationship that didn't end well. It's time for her to choose herself and get her dreams where she wants them. A man doesn't fit in this time in her life, but when she meets Knox things get a bit complicated. I love Emory for the fact that school was really important to her, but that she also realizes she needs some fun. Emory takes risks, but really thinks about what she wants before diving in.

Knox is so much fun. He's an amazing baseball player and knows it, but has a heart of gold. Knox seems like the typical jock, but there's so much more to him. I love how hard he works for his dream and the fact that he realizes he needs his degree just in case. I think he's my favorite male lead that Meghan Quinn has given us so far and there have been some good ones!

Knox and Emory are so much fun together. Just how their first encounter goes to them flirting was really perfect. In many ways this is a slow burn romance, but it's not at the same time. I loved how they really took time to get to know each other before anything got really serious (I mean one rule, is friends always). Their chemistry was there from the start and I just wanted them to be happy. There were many sweet, funny and even awkward moments. Let's just say I can't look at Oreos in a normal way ever again!

There was only one thing that kind of bugged me about this book (it was a 5 star read before this). Around 75% of this book, there are certain events that take place and how the book continues after this didn't sit well with me. I can't say too much without giving it away, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. To me it kind of felt like the last 20% didn't match the rest of the story. I mean I can understand real life goes a certain way, but this just felt off. Because of this the ending felt really rushed and not realistic. 

That being said, I really did enjoy The Locker Room. I just wish the last part of this story was written differently. On top of this amazing romance, Knox and Emory both have amazing friends. They really added something extra to this story that made it even more fun. I really hope a few of these characters end up getting their own stories. Once again, Meghan Quinn gave us an amazing romance, fun characters, lots of humor and some steamy moments as well.

The Locker Room has been on my TBR since shortly before it released in June, but I didn't get around to reading it until now. Literally the story of my life, right? If I'm honest, I put it off a little because I heard some folks say how emotional it was and, quite frankly, I've had enough real life emotions the last few months. For whatever reason, I wanted nothing more than to read it this weekend. So, I dove right in. I only wish I'd planned better and read it before attending an event where Meghan was signing this past weekend. But that's ok. Next time, right?

I have to say The Locker Room wasn't really the book I thought it was going to be. I don't mean that in a bad way though. It was a fun and fairly light read overall, but it did punch me in the feels a few times. I want to be cautious not to get all spoilery, but I think the book's been out long enough now that it's probably ok. I'll just stay as vague as I can. I wasn't prepared for an eight-year gap in the story. It was really almost two stories in one in some ways and, if I'm honest, I preferred the second one. But you know I'm a sucker for a good second chance romance. 

The portion of the story while Knox and Emory were in college was cute, sweet and sexy at times. It was also, unsurprisingly, laugh out loud funny. Exactly what I expect from Meghan. It felt a little repetitive at times, with Emory trying to keep him at an arm's length after being hurt in a past relationship and his relentless (but not in a creepy way) pursuit of her. Their friends first story was charming and enjoyable.

The second portion of The Locker Room, which takes place eight years later, was really where both characters shined for me though. Did I love all the things that happened while they were apart? Of course not, but it was realistic. I think it also made their reunion that much sweeter. My feels were all over the place in that 10-ish-percent of the book. I wish I would've gotten just a little more time with them after they got their crap together, but hopefully I'll see them again in a future book. Meghan's characters tend to pop in and out of other books, so I have my fingers crossed.
