I think "The Lost Weekend" does an amazing job at showing the reader the inner monologues and workings of a drunk, but arguably does too good of a job and many may find some of the near-inane ramblings tedious. Still I think it's absolutely worth a read, and while stretches of it are self-indulgent to the point if annoyance, they're worth pushing through.

There is so much in this. I wish I could take a class on it. The gay stuff is especially interesting as it is coming from a totally different kind of perspective. I don't really understand it. Great clear writing.
