Other than PS I Love You, I've never been that taken with any of Cecilia Ahern's books, but quite enjoyed this one. It is, unsurprisingly, is about marbles and takes place in two timeframes. Sabrina Boggs takes in boxes of her father's possessions and discovers parts of her father's life that she knew nothing about. Her father Fergus is in a nursing home, suffering from some memory loss after a stroke so is unable to help her. Sabrina goes on a search, and learns about herself as well as her father.

Have always loved her writings, always connect us to the characters. But this one is just not for me.

DNFed this so hard. It's not bad by any means but it's just 100% not my style.

When I read a Cecelia Ahern book I am elated, I have smiles, laughter, tears all in one. It's magical. She fills her books with magic. And it is always a treat to read her books. However, this was not the case while reading The Marble Collector. Sure, it was an easy pleasant read. Nostalgic for me, recalling the good old marble playing days. It is a story of a daughter discovering the past of her Dad. Sabrina stumbles upon some of her father's possessions and begins a journey to know more. And how in that process she discovers herself. Cliché. She discovers a truth where she never knew there was a lie. 'We all have things we never want to forget. We all need a person to remember them just in case.' After reading the blurb I expected something else, something along the lines of The Time of my Life where the lead has as appointment with Life and all. The Marble Collector to me felt forced, disappointing. The story, though lovely, was not convincing.

I approached this book with caution, whilst it is written by one of my favourite authors, I didn’t think the blurb looked very intriguing and in fact the main reason I got it was because it was reduced in the kindle store. However, I did get into the story quite quickly and got engaged in the mystery of Sabrina finding out about her dad...
