It's hokey and predictable and unbelievable, but by God I loved it. I don't discriminate against genres. I will fully embrace pop fiction and romantic fiction, especially at Christmas. This one went surprisingly deep for me. The secrets these characters harbored were shocking and had me doing some soul-searching about my own capacity for forgiveness and redemption. They are incidents that happen every day; we read about them in the newspaper, pass our quick judgement, and carry on with our lives. This book had me dive deep into those circumstances and it was uncomfortable, but also safely ensconced in the world of Christmas romance. For all its unapologetic romance, this author is craftier than I've probably given him credit for in passing—ironic given the theme of judgement in the book.

Last book of this year. Couldn't have been a better choice.

Previously watched the Hallmark movie. It was cute, and fluffy and nothing like the book both in a bad and a good way. 

It was intense. It taught beautifully about forgiveness and redemption. It raised some morale qualms, I agree but, overall, it was a great, almost cathartic way to finish a year which has been as terrible and shattering as it has been rewarding. 

So it ends one of my worst year in reading. I had great expectations for 2020. All I want for the next year is just to read.

The Mistletoe Inn

This was just meh. Having read The Mistletoe Promise, I was quite let down by it. I appreciated the meta parts where the author described in detail the process of writing and getting published but the romance was incredibly weak and there was no Christmasy mood either.
