A history of the Vidocq Society, primarily it’s 3 founding members. They come across as both respected professionals and cartoonish - there’s a more than a little hagiography going on. 

The section on the still unsolved Boy in the Box case from Philadelphia (1957) is probably the best part of the book. 

I wanted to like this more than I did.
