This turned out to be a lot better than I anticipated. Basically what we have here is a story about how different parts of the country are good at what they do, how they got to be that way and why it makes sense to be strategic about where you place yourself geographically if you're interested in particular work than if you'd just sot of stay somewhere random and hoping it works out.

Despite being written by an academic, it was an easy read. Had lots of data, but more importantly, did a really good job of communicating the idea that places won't magically invent their own versions of what happens in other cities, that there are more facets to the process than that.
