This was just so cute! I can't get over the art. The art style, the colors, the expressions! Moth is such a loveable character and just so perfectly awkward. And I really love her mother so much. Love to see parents involved in their children's lives, even if they're trying their best in not the best way. Moth and Calendula really just needed to communicate better, but who doesn't right? The plot itself I was all for, it was reasonably grounded, at least up until the climax. I won't get into the details but it was pretty random and sudden, in my opinion. You cannot believe the excitement I felt when I realized there's a book 2!

After reading the sequel before this one, I honestly prefer the sequel. I think you still get the origins without going into the detail that this first one contains but you also get a extra lesson. The art style and love put into the story still shines through though.

Despite it's faults, I really enjoyed The Okay Witch. The art is so expressive and Moth is such a fun little protagonist! On the other hand, race is very much glossed over, and given the whole witch burning angle, that feels like a particularly glaring omission. While I think this is probably a one off, this would have been a great concept for a series so that it could delve a little deeper into these interesting characters and the complex world they inhabit.

Magical middle grade graphic novel with a delightfully quirky, endearingly gangly 13 year-old heroine named Moth Hush who dresses up like a witch one fateful Halloween and gives her single mom a fright because it turns out Moth and her mother are both actual witches, with a black grandmother who was persecuted for being a witch during the witch hunts in Early America and created a supernatural escape for herself, her daughter who is Moth's mom, and her fellow witches throughout time. This is a compelling nod to historical witch hunts, including surprisingly dark moments, that add a fresh perspective to this young witch's coming of age tale. Tackles family legacies and the ways that younger generations can both appreciate their history while forging new paths of their own. The art is fabulous, facial expressions are particularly engaging, I found myself looking back at my favorite moments after finishing the story. My son, 11, who thinks Moth has a lot in common with Mildred Hubble of The Worst Witch, loved this too and we are both hoping there will be a sequel soon!

I really did enjoy this adorable graphic novel. I thought it was such a heartfelt coming of age story with a witchy twist. I really did enjoy the main character and the world building. I thought the art style was adorable and really hope we get more books focused on these characters. I thought this book handled common topics like friendship and being different in such a fun way! I thought this was the prefect halloween read!

THIS. WAS. ADORABLE!! I might need to buy this one because I can see re-reading it every Halloween. 
I can’t quite describe why I liked this book so much other than to say it was so cute. And it was! It was the perfect blend of magic and adolescence. Just the right mix of Halloween vibes without being too spooky. Yes it’s a story about witches, but really it’s a story about a 13-year old girl trying to find her place, her voice, when she feels all alone.

Right off the bat, I’m here to tell you that The Okay Witch is one of the cutest things I have ever laid my eyes on. I’m so glad that I decided to start reading more graphic novels, because holy wow. The Okay Witch has everything I love in a Middle Grade read; witches, spookyness, and a Halloween setting.

& of course, a protagonist that begins to learn & love who they are.

Moth is the target for many of the eight-grade bullies at her school. One day, the bullies attempt to ruin her Halloween, and something strange happens; magic occurs & Moth is left to wonder what the actual heck is going on — could magic be.. real? & that is when she dives into her family’s history & learns more about her background.

The Okay Witch is a tale of self-exploration, family & friendship. This is a perfect Halloween read for the youngins’ & even the adults who love a teaspoon of spooky & a tablespoon of cute in their reads.

The artwork of The Okay Witch is absolutely gorgeous & vibrant. As with most graphic novels, this is what jumped out at me from the start. I was absolutely razzled & dazzled by The Okay Witch.

Y’all, there’s a talking gay cat. Yes, you heard correctly. & he’s such a precious & goofy gem in this tale. I truly adored The Okay Witch. It has magic, witches, the aforementioned talking gay cat, and a girl who goes down a path of self-discovery. It’s a perfect read.

Get ready for The Okay Witch to charm the pants off ya!

What a fun story. I hope there are more installments of The Okay Witch. I want more adventures of Moth and Charlie challenging their town to escape their past. I think Charlie's dad is a great character with a lot of room for growth as well.
