Caro is fascinated by power and what it does to people. Lyndon Johnson was a perfect subject to choose if this is your fascination. For an instance, right after John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas, Johnson got on his good foot and slid that seemingly dead civil rights bill right on by those bigoted noses. Then he went right back to being his big ol' obnoxious self. That will have to wait for book 5.
