Ich habe beinahe geschrien. das kann man doch nicht alles quasi letzten Satz so rausdroppen. Vor allem habe ich mich gefragt, was das bedeutet. Ist Ryan ihr Bruder? Hat sie mit ihrem Bruder geschlafen? War der Typ, der suicide begangen hat nicht existent oder wurde er evtl von Mr Oliver und/oder ihrer Mum getötet? So viele Fragen…

It's lacking that "umph" factor, if you know what I mean. But I definitely enjoyed reading this and it's definitely something.

First of all: ich bin ein großer Fan von Blue. Ich hätte es gern gesehen, wäre sie mit unserer Protagonistin zusammmengekommen. Ansonsten fand ich, dass das Buch zwischenzeitlich sehr viele unnötige Szenen hatte. Die meiste Zeit ist sie ja eben nur weggelaufen und viele Sideplots waren einfach nur random und haben gar nichts zum Hauptplot beigetragen (ich meine, was war das bitte schön mit der Schule, den Fraziers und dem Typ mit dem Waffenkeller?). Es hat sich angefühlt, als wüsste die Autorin die meiste Zeit nicht, wie es weitergehen sollte und es gab auch nicht gerade einen Spannungsbogen und als Leser wusste man auch nicht so wirklich wohin die Story führen sollte. Erst gegen Ende hat man dann mal etwas von der Hintergrundgeschichte erfahren, die letzten zehn Prozent des Buches hatten mehr Inhalt, als alles zuvor. Sehr verstörend fand ich insbesondere, als einem bewusst wurde dass sie mehrere Male unwissentlich mit ihrem (Halb?) Bruder geschlafen hatte. Insgesamt eher mittel, aber ich fand es gut, dass keine Liebesgeschichte im Mittelpunkt stand und der Aufbau der Story ungewöhnlich war. Solide.

And neither is Amelia Keen, Debra Maze, Emma Lark, Sonia Lubovich, or a girl called only Jo. Or almost any of the things she tells us about herself, her past or where she is going next. She is 'Amelia' when she meets Blue, another woman with a life she'd rather not discuss, and thinks she's found a kindred spirit. But as the body count rises around them their pasts and futures begin to clash.

I really enjoyed this book. I could easily have read it all in one day, it was that exciting. There was a lot of good plot twists, I was never bored and I could never predict what was going to happen. Loved it!

Holy smokes - this book is a page-turner! It was such a fun read, twisty and turny, with surprises along the way that didn't feel contrived or forced. I loved the balance between the action-packed suspense of her present with teases to a backstory through email (though the identity of the senders of these emails remains a mystery until the end). The book is broken up into sections based on the alias in use at that time, which I very much enjoyed. It helped frame Tanya's journey and experiences in a way that she herself must have felt a she shed identity after identity. I loved her voice, too. It was unique and raw and felt really honest, even as she lied through her teeth to everyone else.

Once we finally got some answers, though, the plot started to fall apart. It's hard to go into too much detail without spoiling the story, but there were times when the reason behind the actions of the characters either don't make sense or they're just not enough to justify their behavior. Also disappointing was the fact that, by the end of the book, I never felt as though I knew Tanya or understood her choices. Whether this is a result of her constantly changing identity or poor character development, I don't know, but I would have liked to have gotten a better idea of who she was as a character. A weird, romantic story-line was kind of tucked in here and there along the way that was completely unbelievable and nonsensical. As I was reading I found myself wondering what was wrong with this guy. I can't say more but, if you read it, you'll know what I mean. Thankfully, this was a small part of the overall story.

This book was a lot of fun with great pacing and a unique voice. I'd definitely give Lutz another chance. This was her first foray into suspense and I think it was an overall success.
