The Perfect Find

Tia Williams2021
Will a forty-year-old woman with everything on the line – her high-stakes career, ticking biological clock, bank account – risk it all for a secret romance with the one person who could destroy her comeback, for good? Jenna Jones, former It-girl fashion editor, is forty, broke and desperate for a second chance. When she’s dumped by her longtime fiancé and fired from Darling magazine, she begs for a job from her arch nemesis, Darcy Vale. Darcy, the beyond-bitchy publisher of StyleZine.com, agrees to hire her rival – only because her fashion site needs a jolt from Jenna’s old school cred. But Jenna soon realizes she’s in over her head. Jenna’s working with digital-savvy millennials half her age, has never even “Twittered,” and pretends to still be a Fashion Somebody while living a style lie (she sold her designer wardrobe to afford her sketched-out studio, and now quietly wears Walmart’s finest). What’s worse is that the twenty-two-year-old videographer assigned to shoot her web series is driving her crazy. Wildly sexy with a smile Jenna feels in her thighs, Eric Combs is way off-limits – but almost too delicious to resist.

4.5 I loved it! The banter was top-tier, the characters were excellently written and well fleshed out. The steam was absolutely steaming and I loved the ending!!! This book is slept on but it was beautiful. I 100% recommend.

Seven Days in June is easily top 10 in books I've read this year! I actually want to go back and do a proper reread because I've been missing it. Needless to say, I've been dying to see if I would have the same connection if I read some earlier books, and the verdict is..... Emphatically, YESS! 100% I enjoy the writing style of her books and can't wait to see what else she writes. I can't even explain it fully, but I love how she words things and how her books flow so effortlessly. I didn't think I could feel a strong connection for the main character in her 40s in a completely different aspect of her life but I was convinced otherwise. She is just so easily likable I think the way she has that internal self-deprecating humor makes her relatable, and how she dropped everything because the life she built was no longer the same and the person she had devoted all her time to was now a stranger. That took courage and I root for her to find what she was missing. I felt the struggle she had to go through by being forced to reevaluate everything she knew and then build a whole new life essentially. I was charmed by her persistence and how she made things work. Eric was also a character I liked getting to know. I felt the chemistry between Jenna and Eric from pretty early on. Of course, their story started with them making out at a party but it wasn't until later when it really magnified especially when they were making their video series into their own personal game of fourplay. I loved how they worked as a team but worship each other's strengths. Their struggles felt real and I wanted so badly for them to find a way to make it work. This book was a lot of different emotions and I felt connected to the story right away. Still, not exactly the level of obsession I have for SDIJ but I thoroughly enjoyed it. If I had only one thing that didn't sit right is I would've liked more time with the ending but overall I really thought it was a fantastic book and one I was more than happy to spend a very hot Tuesday inside reading
