I cannot believe this book exists, I cannot believe Elif Batuman exists, but I am glad they do

Witty, insightful, but scattered. This Russian lit love letter gets bogged down in travel tales. Still, sharp people portraits and a Jamesian touch make it a diverting, if unfocused read.
