For a retelling of Princess and the Pea it was done pretty good. Alyssa was a resourceful woman. There were a couple of times that I got frustrated with Max and Alyssa. It doesn't explain the Era that the story is in. You just know its when there is carriage rides and birds to deliver messages. It was a fast and easy read.

This was such a quick read for me, I flew through in one sitting. The story was a bit on the trope-y side but not too much that I stopped reading it. I found the main character instantly lovable. There were so many characters that I adored in this, I wanted all of them to get their own 'happily ever after.' I did find some of the situations a bit predictable and people seemed to trust the main character instantly which made things unbelievable at times. Despite that, the story was too adorable to stop reading. I would classify this as a YA fairy tail retelling and romance. I will probably read the rest of the series at some point.
