The Princess Knight
Reviews

Before I start, I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for a completely honest review. All the opinions and thoughts are my own, and unaffected by others. At first, I was worried that this book would not be able to live up to it's absolutely wonderful prequel, but THIS DUOLOGY FOREVER HAS MY HEART!! The Princess Knight was the perfect ending to its stunning prequel!! There was sibling relationships, an enemies-to-lovers romance, an amazing plot and storyline, a super descriptive setting, need I even go on? The chemistry between Quinn and Gemma, even while they were enemies, and still while they were lovers was gripping. The sibling relationships between all of Gemma's brothers and sisters (including Gemma of course), was relatable, and got you hooked. Literally. I couldn't stop reading. Although some of them fought a lot, you could see through their actions and words how much they really cared about each other. The romance between Gemma and Quinn was flawless, and I'm so glad that in this book we saw so much more of each of the supporting characters. There was literally nothing wrong with this book. I just wished that we could have seen a bit more of Caid and Laila, and I didn't love Keeley's character development. It wasn't bad, but in a few scenes, she was a bit too grumpy and moody for my taste. And Quinn, Quinn, Quin, where do I even start with you? This book has a ton of blood, guts, war, and gore, but I still found myself laughing until I got hiccups, all because of Quinn - he is hands down THE MOST hilarious character I have read about. It's not like Aiken is trying too hard, or that Quinn is the "class clown" - but his attitude towards life, his relationships with his friends and family, and just the way he communicates with them will have you laughing. Quinn is my spirit animal, and precious morally grey centaurs are now my thing 🥺🥺

Imagine Terry Pratchett's Discworld, Monty Python, LOTR and a certain series involving Honey Badger shifters got together and made a book baby! This would be that baby! A Marvellous mash of genres into one tasty treat! Military trained monks, blacksmithing queens, wrong-in-the-head sisters, famil feuds, unlikely allies..oh and a pack of hellish wolves, loyal only to the most unlikely queen in the history of queening! Gemma had to run from her order and now instead of being with her cohort causing mayhem and destruction she is a Princess, but still manages some destructive chaos! She feels put upon by a certain handsome Centaur, who seems to get right under her skin! With one sister trying to heal the world and the other trying to rip it apart, Gemma has a lot on her plate. But now she has to play mediator to a group of misaligned religious folk, Witches, Assassins, Dwarves and a mishmash of other unlikely allies! I cannot stress how much this story made me laugh! Read during the lockdown of the COVID pandemic this was the perfect tonic to take me away from reality and dump me on the most manic, funny, magical and downright dangerous dimension! Switch off the logic in your head and just fall in love with the madcap characters. My favourite scenes without a doubt (and without revealing spoilers) are the hot springs tub and a certain hammer that gets "upgraded". OMG I almost wee'd myself laughing!

This is a hard read. Mainly because you are giggling and laughing too much to read. I love this second book in the series. I am going to have to buy them in order to reread whenever I want a laugh. I love it the heroines are not dainty, little beings. Of course, the centaurs are too bad either.
