strong as usual, I'm really enjoying this series!
the crime in this one was riveting and even though I figured it out about halfway through, I thoroughly enjoyed it
not sure where the personal lives of the main duo are going though, I hope they don't end up together

I really enjoy Katerina's style of writing and the characters of Imogen and Adrian I have become familiar with over the last couple of books. The Promise is a tense murder-thriller with an unnamed man strangling women in their homes. Alongside this, we have a diary being written by an unknown person and the story of teenager Connor and his father who have just moved back to England. I feel that maybe three isn't high enough praise for this book, but there are a few things that didn't quite sit right for me. There were no suspects until near the end of the novel and from about two thirds of the way through it was obvious who the killer was. I also didn't like the 'will they/won't they' between the two main characters. Just keep them as partners! Not all male and female characters need to get romantically involved. I also thought the ending was quite sudden. I would have liked to know more about what happened to Connor and some other minor characters, but maybe Diamond is keeping those for the next book in line. Despite my complaints I enjoyed the story structure. I had to keep reading to find out what happened and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. I look forward to reading the next novel in the series.
