This was my second time reading this book and I have to say it is as heartbreaking and intense as I remember. The book is short, but in its pages, Plante manages to paint a vivid picture of who his partner was and the depth of their relationship over the course of 40 years. But never one to be sentimental or moved by death, I found myself tearing up, when Plante describes his partner's illness. It was sad and frustrating watching as this disease slowly takes the life of Nikos the breakdown of such a long and beautiful relationship.
