I actually loved this book. The main characters were even better then the first book. There was something about this that made it a page turner and I couldn't look away.

I guess I shouldn't have expected this book to be exactly like its predecessor, high expectations only bring pain.

The unofficial sequel, this is Kjell's story and how he comes in terms with his powers as a warrior and falls for a beautiful stubborn and strong seer, Sasha. Keeps you on the edge of your seat

I was in the mood for a good fantasy romance and this fit the bill.

4.5/5 THIS BOOK WAS SPECTACULAR!! I really enjoyed reading The Queen & the Cure, and I think it was a great sequel to the Bird & the Sword series! Firstly, I absolutely loved that this book followed Kjell. He is my favorite character in this duoligy, so having this book following his endeavors made me really happy. I absolutely loved reading about Kjell finding himself and accepting who he is. I loved that he never pretended to be anything he didn’t believe he was, yet still let himself grow to be something more than he thought he could be. I also really enjoyed the plot in this book as well. I think it was a good story to follow the first book and I really loved exploring new sides of this world as well as new characters and new Kingdom’s! Something else that really made this book for me was the relationships. Going from my same thoughts from the first book, I really love Kjell and Tiras’s relationship. I love that Kjell always see’s him as a brother before a King. I think that is something that makes their relationship so strong. Another relationship I came to adore was Kjell’s friendship with Jerick. I absolutely loved the dynamic between these two characters and I loved that Jerick was nothing but a good friend to Kjell even when Kjell hadn’t let himself show he had a heart yet. Then of course we have the relationship between Sasha and Kjell. Now I genuinely loved the progression of their relationship, and even though I thought their romance was very stereotypical at times (the girl making a tough and hardened man care) I still absolutely loved them non the less. I found myself routing for them the entire book!! Overall, I absolutely loved this book and I think it was an amazing sequel!! I highly recommend!!

Actual rating 3.5 stars It’s not that I disliked this book, I really did like it. For some reason I just couldn’t get into it as much as I did with The Bird and the Sword, even though Kjell was one of my favourite characters in that book. There isn’t any one thing I can pinpoint as to why I didn’t like it as much, I just neither liked or disliked it. Although I will admit to tearing up a few times, and Harmon writes romance really really well; it was like I could feel the pain Kjell was in whenever he was apart from her, that was fantastically done. Also the name of the last child made me tear up quite a bit, I’m not gonna lie LOL

An excellent continuation of an excellent first book. Smart writing (again), great magic system (still), and the different perspective made it feel fresh. HUGE fan of this book/writer/series.
