As far as Lord Cartwright is concerned, Samantha Adamson is not a matchmaker--she is a meddler--and he is outraged at her disregard for the rules of polite society, but he just might be falling in love in spite of himself. Original.

"A debut novel that pulses with humor and empathy and explores the heart's capacity for forgiveness... Zadie Anson and Emma Colley have been best friends since their early twenties, when they first began navigating serious romantic relationships amid the intensity of medical school. Now they're happily married wives and mothers with successful careers--Zadie as a pediatric cardiologist and Emma as a trauma surgeon. Their lives in Charlotte, North Carolina are chaotic but fulfilling, until the return of a former colleague unearths a secret one of them has been harboring for years. As chief resident, Nick Xenokostas was the center of Zadie's life--both professionally and personally--during a tragic chain of events during her third year of medical school that she has long since put behind her. Nick's unexpected reappearance during a time of new professional crisis shocks both women into a deeper look at the difficult choices they made at the beginning of their careers. As it becomes evident that Emma must have known more than she revealed about circumstances that nearly derailed both their lives, Zadie begins to question everything she thought she knew about her closest friend"--

Big Little Lies meets Grey's anatomy! A great and fun read! I loved the drama, character development and the plot twists

This book came highly recommended to me from a good bookish friend of mine due to our love for Grey's Anatomy. While certain aspects of the book did deal with the two main characters being doctors it was more centered around one pivotal moment in both of their lives. I know they say never judge a book by it's cover but holy moly this cover is gorgeous and I would have still picked this book up if I had seen it in a bookstore.

Zadie and Emma met each other in medical school and immediately became good friends. Having to deal with the stress and insane work hours brings them closer together and they move in together. When Zadie gets assigned to Dr. X, she feels an instant attraction towards him even though it's frowned upon. After Zadie is no longer being trained under Dr. X she feels that they are finally free to be open with their relationship until she finds out he's married. Fast forward, Emma and Zadie are both married with children and are both running very successful lives in the medical field. When a tragedy from years before comes back to light, Zadie finds out a lot more about the truth behind her friend's death and she finds out her best friend has been keeping something from her for years.

I was surprised by how much I really liked this book. Any books having to deal with medical subjects fascinated me and I love that the author is a trauma surgeon and knew what she was talking about when describing medical cases instead of an author having to get their research elsewhere.

I loved both of the characters in this book and I loved the plot of the story also. I was shocked when Emma's three year old patient got hit by a car, that her mother was driving, and subsequently died and Emma was being sued by the parents. This was a very interesting read and I enjoyed it a lot. I definitely want to read more by Kimberly Martin!

This arc was provided to me for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars

I have this small belief that I missed my calling as a surgeon. But that is mostly due to my love for medical shows. So, I figured I would enjoy a book that had a similar vibe. The medical aspects hooked me, the friendship had inspiring moments, and the storyline was intriguing.

The Queen of Hearts revolves around two best friends Zadie Anson and Emma Colley. Both work in the medical field, Zadie being a pediatric cardiologist and Emma as a trauma surgeon. Being best friends since college, there isn't anything that can keep these friends apart. Until a person from their past makes an appearance and creates a rift between the best friends. This is a story about love, friendship, and how everyone makes mistakes.

I must admit, I thought I was going to enjoy this much more than I did. I enjoyed all of Zadie and her chapters. But I was not a huge fan of Emma's. The author created a beautiful character of Zadie and her storyline was just fantastic and kept me on the edge of my seat. But I think everyone who reads this will absolutely adore Delaney. She was the best character and I would gladly read a book about her. Her whit was hilarious, and it created a nice fluffy aspect to the book.

Overall, the ending disappointed me and I think it should have been handled differently. But I am sure more people are more forgiving than I am. So I would definitely encourage those who admire friendship and a witty 3-year-old. Give this book a go, I promise Delaney alone is worth it.
