Half Yeti, All Man

As an autistic adult, I appreciate this book in a massive way. It's mind blowing to think that a 13 year old boy from the other side of the planet was able to describe my daily life so accurately. Don't get me wrong. Autism is a spectrum and no two autistic people are the same. However, there are basic traits that we almost all share. Communication is incredibly difficult for me. It is almost impossible for me to accurately describe my feelings at any given moment. This book summed up so many of the things I'd like to tell people in such a concise way, though, that I have asked my loved ones to read it, as well, in the hopes that they might understand me just a little bit better. If I could, I would personally thank Naoki Higashida for his efforts in helping people to see that we don't lack empathy, as so many neurotypical people seem to think. We just lack the ability to communicate those feelings in a way that is easy to see or understand. If you, or someone you care about, is neurodivergent, you would be doing yourself a great disservice by passing up this read. I am eagerly awaiting a chance to screen the documentary based on this book when it becomes more readily available.

as an autistic person myself this book was lovely to read. i first read this book when i was 13 myself actually although it took me years later to come to the full realization that i myself was autistic... 

rereading this at 21 and i found myself reflected to a decent extent. of course my experience with autism differs from the author but much is similar or easily relatable. 

while reading i found myself reflecting on my own childhood so this book was quite touching and cathartic. definitely recommend.
