I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not expecting the heartbreak this book gave me. I am not crying, you are! What an absolute roller coaster of emotion this book was. Kennedy Ryan always knows how to write such a fucking phenomenal book. Her words always manage to gut punch me. As I sit here writing this review, I can’t help but cry thinking about it. The story was so touching, unbelievably moving, filled with love, passion and so much hurt. Maxim is definitely a top book boyfriend for me and let me be real, Lennix is also a book girlfriend of mine too. I don’t think there’s anything about these two that I didn’t love. This is one of those reads that I’ve purposely stretched out. I knew that this book was going to be a tearjerker from the beginning and I’m so glad I took my time with this one. Because I really needed it. I highly, highly recommend listening to this book on audio. It made the reading experience so freaking good. Jason Clark and Jo Raylan did one hell of a job bringing this story to life. I don’t know why she wasn’t on my list earlier, and shame on me for that one, but Kennedy Ryan is hands-down, one of my all-time favorite authors! There isn’t a book that I’ve read by Kennedy Ryan that I haven’t loved. I have fallen in love with each of them for their own reasons, and this book/duet is no different. I will literally recommend her for absolutely anybody. This author and this duet is a must read! Hands down another 6 star read. I think everything about this book & duet is absolutely perfect. Maxim and Lennix will forever live in my brain. Anyways, just thinking about this book makes me emotional, so I think I’m gonna go ahead and stop this review right here 😭😅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Balanced relationship. Unexplored drama. Could have been longer because of that.

I am just here to announce my official application for the Ryan Kennedy fanbase ...because what???...what the actual fuck ma'am??....why so talented sis?? There are few modern day romance authors that impress me and I'm glad to say she's one of the select few Maxim and lennix story comes to a beautiful end here , I loved the plot, THE WRITING IS AMAZING , I loved the side characters and how much she portays her women in general (which is of great importance to me), I liked the development between the love interests and the immediate family that was very beautiful as well But most of all I enjoyed how profound her writing for emotional scenes were ...very few authors can convey such grief and love and loss perfectly and she did...I love it so much .....amazing 👏👏👏👏👏

*4.5⭐️ After the events of the first book, it’s clear that Maxim and Lennix need each other. Separated by horrible circumstances, they’ll stop at nothing to get back to each other. Even better than the first book, this sequel has all the shocking moments and electric romance at the centre of it. Now that Lennix and Maxim realise they’re better together, their romance is even more intense than the first book. While they have conflict within their relationship, most of the it comes from the outside. When it matters most they are there for the other to lean on. There’s also quite a bit more sex in this book so if that’s not your thing, I wouldn’t recommend reading this duet. This book focuses a lot more on grief and trauma than the first book. I feel like I’ve noticed this in a lot of romance books recently, but if there’s a good romance, there’s usually an accurate portrayal of other emotions. Again, a lot of the plot of the book is political, which I didn’t mind. For me, I just prefer for politics to be out of my romance, at least this moment in time. Basically, if you haven’t read this duet, I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. Even if like me, you don’t love politics in romance, Maxim and Lennix make up for it.

This was a wonderful duet that not only had a romance that made me fall in love but also dealt with issues that were so enlightening to read about. Such a great story.

If you haven't read The Kingmaker, please don't read this review! Full of mild spoilers for the first book in the duology, but I shan't spoil this book unless you click on the hidden bits. An explosive finish to a tense Kennedy Ryan duology, I was kept on the edge of my seat as Nix and Maxim navigated their way to their ultimate happily ever after. I really wasn't expecting (view spoiler)[the car bomb! that blew up Maxim's brother (hide spoiler)] but could smell Maxim's ultimate destiny coming. There is so much angst in this story, but I love the illicit, secretive and lust filled hookups peppered throughout the story as Ryan is a MASTER at building tension. There's no way in hell I could ever be with a man like Maxim, but it sure is fun to read about one. Nix is a heroine for the ages, she made this entire series. CW: death of a secondary character, grief, violence, kidnapping

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads. I should be used to Kennedy Ryan putting me through the wringer, but I wasn't prepared for the All the King's Men Duet. I inhaled The Kingmaker and waited with grabby hands for The Rebel King. Then life got in the way and it took me some time to get around to reading it. Holy crap. What a ride.  There's not much I can say about this book that won't ruin it for you if you've not yet read, so I'm going to keep it simple. If you're into politics with your romance and want a beautifully-written duet that will keep you guessing, this is the duet for you. Clear your schedule and prepare to binge. I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Favorite Quotes: "I would kill a thousand times for you. I'd die a thousand times for you if I could."  "The past is behind us. The future is ours. Figure out how you can change the world right now, and don't fear it. Do it." "We weren't unlikely, Nix. We were inevitable."

Loved the first one (once I got past my rant on cliff hangers). This one was good, but not nearly as good as the first book. Something was missing in this one and I think it was that Lennix and Maxim became just another wealthy power couple. I wish there was more Native American aspects of this story line - I missed the Lennix who was deeply involved in fighting for fair treatment of her people. I missed Maxim caring deeply about the environment. I know that they both obviously grew up but it feels like they also grew out of the passions that made them spark when they were younger and traded that for political strategy and shareholder satisfaction. Lennix also got on my nerves a little bit in this book. After her ordeal in Costa Rica, why in the hell would she be so totally unreasonable to having at least some security detail especially after Maxim reveals that (view spoiler)[he had been a victim of an attempted kidnapping 11 times (hide spoiler)]. She came across as unreasonable and independent to a fault. I might gloss over that in someone in their early 20s, but she is in her 30s and by this point, you should have some more maturity about things and also be willing to give a little on things that mean a lot to your partner. Speaking of which, I feel like a lot of this book was Maxim fighting for her to put their relationship as a priority, and her rebuffing him at every turn. I get her concerns about the optics of how their relationship might impact her career and all that and I so get the fact that men can sleep with whomever they want with little to no career repercussions whereas women, esp women of color, can't. But still. It felt like manufactured drama and a conflict created out of unnecessary angst for her to constantly fight against the thing that she wants. Despite those reservations, the story was well-written and the characters were still compelling. It wasn't quite the page-turner as the first book (I caught myself skimming a bit here and there), but the first book was so good that I had to finish this one. I think the story itself may have been better off to have been contained to the first book and skip all of the Costa Rica and presidential campaign faux drama. A Lennix and Maxim finding each other 10 years after Amsterdam as accomplished adults, then sailing off into the sunset together still fighting for their causes might have been preferable to me than what felt a bit like a dragged-out story for the sake of a sequel.

Each book by Kennedy Ryan that I have read so far I have actually been hooked into and this one is like that as well. I started reading The Rebel King and boy I just couldn't put it down. I love the story and I love the characters. Rebel King is book 2 in the All The King's Men duet so I do recommend that you read The Rebel King first. I do recommend. I am giving this 5 out of 5 .

This was everything I’d hoped for and more as Maxim and Lennix’s final book!! Their incredible romance is poignant, beautiful, and so unforgettable. If you haven’t read this duet yet, YOU NEED TO! Now I’m itching for Grim’s story...
