This sequel picks up right where book #1 left off and the excitement lasts throughout the entire book. Ivy and Bishop, along with friends Caleb and Ash, head back to Westfall once they hear that Ivy's sister is due to be executed and that Westfall is in shambles. Even though Callie betrayed her, Ivy cannot just sit back and let her sister be killed. There were some unexpected twists and turns in this book and that just made it a better read. Once again, Engel has crafted a story filled with action, romance and humor. I highly recommend this series to high school students and adults. I received a copy of this book from the Amazon Vine program in exchange for a honest review.

I was beyond excited to read the second half of this duology. But I was also so nervous as to what would happen after the events of the first book. I had no idea what events would transpire now that Ivy was beyond the fence; would she learn to adapt and trust others would she become hard and ruthless? I was almost scared to find out. I think more than anything I was worried that this book wouldn't live up to my expectations, and boy the expectations were high.

I am glad to say that I truly did love reading the second half of the duology, though the first is still my favorite.😄 It was amazing to read Ivy's character arc and seeing just how much she overcame since the events of the first book. Her character is almost unrecognizable from the girl who was married off and was used as a pawn at the beginning of the Book of Ivy. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Ivy learn to love and to trust, to watch her build a family.

This book brought in some of my favorite characters: Ash and Caleb. They were the family that Ivy should have always had. They were kind and gentle and yet firm with Ivy when she needed it. They gave her the love and the loyalty that she should have gotten from her family all along. Ash was such a fun character to read, she was everything Ivy's sister should have been and wasn't. Her character was so willing to help Ivy and to protect those around her, and I loved her for that. Then there was Caleb, at first I thought he was going to be a love interest and that there was going to be a love triangle when Bishop showed up. Thank goodness I was wrong, and Caleb remained a big brother figure to Ivy. I really enjoyed Caleb as a character because he often came off as reserved and stoic, and yet it was easy for the reader to tell he was loyal to his family, which included Ivy.


Then there was the romance. I don't think I have ever wanted to see two fictional people together more in my life. Ivy and Bishop just deserve to be together and to be happy, if I got nothing else from this book I wanted that. Bishop is by far the best love interest I have read yet. But I will admit the romance was pretty rocky for me. Things were tense with Bishop and Ivy for a good portion of the book, which is to be expected. However, it almost felt like it was dragging at times, there were points where I grew frustrated and annoyed with Ivy. She was the one who "betrayed" Bishop and yet she spends most of the book being short and cross with him after he finds her. It irritated me to no end, there were honestly times that I wanted to shake some sense into Ivy. Thank goodness, their romance prevailed, and I was a happy reader by the end.

Overall, I really loved this duology and would recommend it to anyone. Amy Engel crafted a wonderful story, that was gripping for me as a reader. It truly has everything action, betrayal, survival, romance, and family. I highly recommend the books they are worth the read.

Wow this was possibly one of the best books I've read in a long time. Even though the plot seems fairly simple, the underlying feelings, themes, and principles are incredibly relatable and complex and well-thought out. It speaks to the enduring human spirit and its capacity to grow and change and improve. I thought this book was incredibly deep and really enjoyed reading it as well. It was entertaining but I found myself also really taking in the words and pondering them. Highly recommend, this was awesome.

The Revolution of Ivy picks up just after the first book, when Ivy has been put out. She has nothing but the clothes on her back and has to learn how to navigate a completely new part of the world. She has to learn how to survive, and deal with the brutal people on the outside of the fence.

I thought this was a wonderful second book, and a great conclusion to the story. Again, most of this book isn’t action driven. The beginning a little, because Ivy is learning how to survive in what is essentially a new world. And the ending, because so much happens in the last fifty pages or so.

Again, I really loved the characters in this book. I can’t stand how much I love Ivy’s character development. I remember being slightly frustrated in the first book because I felt she was so brainwashed by her family. So willing to sacrifice herself for people who could barely love her back. If they even did that. She has a sort of awakening in this book that I really, really appreciated. However, that brings other issues to light that I think she works through well throughout the novel. I loved watching Ivy struggle and discover who she is and what it means to live in this post-war, post-apocalyptic world they live in.

Bishop. Oh, my little baby Bishop. He is top notch book boyfriend material, people. Seriously, there’s this huge “bad boy turned good boy” trope in Young Adult literature. And while I love that trope, and enjoy books that contain it, it’s nice to have a male character who is just good from the beginning. There’s no miracle girl that changes his ways and makes him a better person. He just is. I love his devotion and love to Ivy. I just. Ugh. I could gush about this romance for the rest of my life if someone would let me.

On top of that, we were introduced to new characters. People outside the fence that I loved, and one that I wanted to stab every time he was on the page. Once again, I loved Amy Engel’s writing. The story flowed so well and was at a perfect pace.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this sequel. This was such a wonderful duology, and is one of my new favorites. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about either book since I read them, and already want to reread them. And make everyone I know read them.

           I read this book in half a day 😂 I finished Book of Ivy and I’m super glad I already had the sequel with that ending. I like seeing Ivy step out from her families shadow and become her own person, figuring out what she wanted. I still love Bishop. We need more genuinely good fictional guys, it’s so nice. So much went down towards the end and I was very invested. The end and epilogue were awesome. I loved their little friend group with the new characters in this book. They really were family. Such a fun and quick Duology!

L'histoire est toujours un peu lente et manque d'action, néanmoins ce second tome est beaucoup plus prennant que le premier. J'ai aimé découvrir cette dystopie et ses sujets poignants autours de la construction de soi, le refus de l'endoctrinement et l'esprit critique, en revanche le rythme de l'histoire ne m'a pas convaincu et j'ai souvent sauté quelques paragraphes jugés inintéressants.

I’m going to keep this review rather vague, as I don’t want to give any spoilers if you haven’t read The Book of Ivy yet. What I enjoyed most about The Revolution of Ivy was how an already strong, powerful heroine became even more strong and determined in this sequel. She refused to let anything hold her back. I’m all for intense, independent and extremely intelligent women in books, and Ivy was definitely that type of MC.

I also have to add how much swooning there was in this second book. Yes, Bishop was adorbs in the first book… but seriously?! I didn’t think I could love him more, and then I read this book. Yup, totally love him even more now. All kinds of swooning going on over here.

I can’t say enough about this pair of books. Though I don’t normally read dystopians, I was pushed a bit to read these after so many positive reviews. Also my bloggy friends insisting it had much more of a contemporary feel than a dystopian one, which totally convinced me to take the leap. Such a fantastic group of characters and engaging story that so many people will be sure to love. I’m actually shocked that this series hasn’t blown up more throughout the book blogging community because it’s really fantastic! I’m hoping to see more books like this come our way in the near future.

This was just, eurgh, I loved it. I absolutely loved it. It's not often that a sequel is just as gripping as the first book but Amy Engel managed it perfectly with The Revolution of Ivy. This was just as heart pounding, intense and page turning as book one. I adored the character development throughout the book, especially in regards to Ivy and he different relationships she allowed herself to develop. The friendships were wonderful and the romance in this duology has quickly become a new all time favourite. I sped through this duology as though my life depended it and I couldn't recommend it more highly. I can't wait to read more from Amy Engel and her ridiculously additive writing in the future. If you're looking for an action packed page turner with a wonderful romance, I'd highly recommend this duology. I loved each and every page!
