Very confused by this book. Two side characters from previous books are now the main characters. The plot changed and seems to be going nowhere. Arjun is a fun character and I can appreciate him, but not convinced of his attraction to Pippa? Also confused about the new characters introduced that have agendas which don’t line up with the storyline? Sad that there’s not a good wrap up for Celine and Bastien.

I can’t rate this one a full 5* as I did with the previous books honestly. It just wasn’t at all what I was expecting…

I know WHY the story was told as it was and why we had to follow secondary characters for the majority of the book but it just felt a bit like I was being thrown into a completely different series in a way. I did enjoy myself and did really like the book but it just wasn’t what I thought it was going to be at all, compared to book 1 it feels really jarring. 

That said I did like following Pippa and Arjun for the majority of the book and I get that it was necessary to make the ending more impactful but it was a bit slow at times and I was just counting the pages till I got to a Bastien/Céline chapter. Hopefully the next book is a bit more balanced in POV’s and the final book comes out later this year so I can get this series finished!

2.5 actual rating. definitely my least favorite of the three so far lmao. i REALLY did not like pippa. at all. i genuinely don’t remember her being that bad in the first two books lmao. arjun was the saving grace of the book for me, I just feel bad that he had to put up with pippa yikes 😭. also I thought celine and bastien would be past these serious communication issues. honestly though, the way celine was with her mother around frustrated me so much; I really liked celine in the first two books, but she acted so blind and kinda stupid in the one 😪🥴

Did not think I would care about Pippa and Arjun’s relationship that much, but I am eating my words!

OOOOOOOKKKKKAAAAAYYYYY... I have thoughts so bare with me please.

The Righteous was one of my most anticipated releases of 2021 after the cliffhanger from The Damned.
I was nervous to learn that The Righteous would be more so in the POV of Arjun and Pippa.

After finishing, I can say Arjun and Pippa are 2 cinnamon rolls I just wanna snuggle up with and read about forever.

Their back story, their chemistry, the friendship to lovers... I was all for it.

So what did I struggle with??
This book felt like it shouldn't belong in the series. A spin off? Sure.
The fae and creatures introduces just felt like a total 180 from the New Orleans dark creatures we fell in love with.

And Michael?
I think I skimmed 75% of everything he said and could still know exactly what was going on. He was an extreme disconnect for me.

And Bastien and Celine?
What. HAPPENED?!?!
The went from this dark, charming and mysterious couple to a girl who threw out all her feelings and common sense for a sketchy mom, an Bastien is just miserable in the fae world.

Overall thanks to the story line created for The Righteous and the adorable characters, I ended up really enjoying it still. But now the problem is I dont even want to go back to the OG couple
GIMME AAAALLLL THE PIPPA AND ARJUN.
