The Roommate
Reviews

Enjoyed the banter - hated there was a side character with the last name masterson (major ick)
I thought this book had soooo much more potential to be LOL funny but it kinda missed
Overall just good

a granddaughter of JFK moves to LA and becomes roommates with a porn star and together they take on the Big Porn industry and have lots of sex. this is what i’m talking about!!! move over dickens, this is true classic literature.

This was cute but nothing really stood out

i love them. the contrast between them? josh being so straightforward with everything, clara being all shy and timid. i also loved the character development within clara. I LOVE NAOMI SO SO MUCH. her and clara's little banter really livens everything up. i'm so excited for the next book<3

i found the book so cute and loved the tension! i liked Clara and how obsessed josh was over her although she didn’t know it.

3/5 This book was actually not that bad, at first when I saw the ratings I wasn’t very convinced to read it but I enjoyed reading it. Even though I didn’t like Clara. "she looked like everything he’d ever wanted.” “He’d give Clara everything he had, even if it killed him” “forehead to rest against hers. “I can’t believe you’re real.” I love pathetically obsessed men, so yeah, three stars.

One of the best romance I've read this year

i loved this sm istg the topic about the women empowerment is the best i swear such a good book - “He should have been safe, but something about Clara, about the noises she made, or the way she moved, or the wicked combination, threatened to pull him under her spell.” - “Clara’s shy smile made him want to grab the straps of those ridiculous overalls, yank her mouth to his, and finally taste those strawberry lips he’d been dreaming about since she first walked into his life.” - “(…)maybe he would have if Josh hadn’t thought of Clara’s face at that exact moment. If he hadn’t pulled up her profile in the driver’s seat of his car at sunset after a whole day of facing her fears. The shadows of a dying sun across her face made her look like a 1940s movie star. Biting her lip. Determined to do what she thought she must. No matter how much it scared her.” - “It took everything he had to keep from dropping to his knees and pleading with her to put him out of his misery.” - “JOSH NEEDED TO get his feelings for his roommate under control. His physical symptoms had started to cause him bodily harm. And his mental ones? Well, those had gotten so powerful, he could hardly go ten minutes without thinking of Clara. All he knew was that he always wanted her to be happy. When she smiled or laughed, he felt powerful and good. If something hurt her, he wanted to Hulk smash.” - “If he wasn’t careful, trouble might not be the only thing he loved for long. The way he felt about Clara, heart pounding every time she entered a room, greedy for her approval, laughing at everything she said. He hadn’t recognized the signals. Had always assumed he’d been born immune.” - “Listen, I can’t think of a polite way to tell you that if that guy”—Josh pointed at the photo of Everett where it lay on the ground—“doesn’t drop down on his knees and beg to fuck you, he’s a moron.” He threw up his hands. “If he doesn’t wake up every morning and pray for the privilege of kissing you and touching you, and God, just looking at you, then something within him is deeply deranged.”(…) “Clara.” Some of the darkness in his gaze receded. “If Everett can’t see that you are epically, painfully beautiful, and so sexy”—he closed his eyes as if in pain for a moment—“that I practically rub myself raw thinking about the way your mouth moves, then he’s the one who’s pathetic and he’s making the biggest mistake of his miserable life.” - “The idea of not living up to her expectations terrified him, but as he took in her flushed cheeks and her lush mouth, he knew he had no choice. He’d give Clara everything he had, even if it killed him.” - “His molecules had rearranged to give him this shot at loving her. His seven years must be up.” - “As the woman of his dreams waited by the door, Josh hastily ripped her drawing from the brown paper covering their table, tucked the folded square into his back pocket, and made a wish.” - “Josh had participated in sex moves he couldn’t spell, but none of them had made happiness pump through his veins like holding hands with Clara.” - “And okay, maybe it is a little bit for you, Clara. But I don’t mind. Because when you left two nights ago, I realized I’d do anything in my power to show you how much you mean to me.” - “Roommates Turned Business Partners Say “I Do”: Wheaton to Wed Conners.”

4/5🔥 Josh and Clara are too cute to pass up. Josh a sex worker and Clara a socialite end up having to room together. Fun and easy smut read

Yes, yes, yes!!! I absolutely love this book, the characters, the plot, everything. It's perfect.

Respectfully I would like to marry Josh. Thank you for coming to my tedtalk. This could’ve very easily been written badly and cliche but it was done so fun.

I hate-read this book. I didn’t like the fmc, I thought she was very annoying. I know the whole point is that she’s trying to unlearn stuff and not care about what her mom/family thinks about her life choices, but her journey was not inspiring to me.

okay this is a major smut book but i ate that shit up. haven’t read one in awhile so probably made me enjoy it more but i actually did like the storyline and never got bored. thank u kendall for buying me this book

this book was so cute and such a good idea i loved it

I read this because I was sad inside and didn’t want to do deep thinking. It made me distracted in a warm happy way, which makes me want to give it five stars, but if I think about it objectively it is mostly just a lot of tropes and a highly unlikable fmc

okay i actually kinda loved this. it was so funny but still had me dropping my jaw hahah

Did I read this one for the plot? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I read a 1-star review that said this was all about the smut and needless to say I dove right in. The characters are ok, the story's a bit annoying at times but the steamy part is amazing. I described it as porn with a side dish of romance to a couple of friends and that's about it.

i loved this a lot!! i had SO MUCH FUN while reading it!! i got sucked in the story so fast, the dynamic between Josh and Clara had me from the start, i enjoyed watching their relationship develop so much! i loved watching them support and be their for each other!! i also loved the scene at the end between Josh and his mom so much!! My only complaint is about the big declaration at the end. Listen i love grant gestures as much as the next person but i think they needed to talk and have a conversation more than make huge declaration of love?? but maybe that's just me. anyways i definitely recommend this because this book managed to suck me in during one of the most stressful weeks of college and made me have an amazing time and i love it for that.

Loved this, Josh was so sweet though i wasn't rooting much for them at first but the romance definetly picked up and you could sense their ~chemistry~ Buddy read with Nicole 💞

idk what the fuck i just read tbh

2.5 josh conners i love you

I had such a good time while reading this, definitely recommend it! I’m only mildly disappointed at the ending because I think it could’ve been better but it’s still a really fun read.

DNF. I rarely DNF books but when after 100+ pages I’m still bored or lacking chemistry i can’t do it.

"Change always comes with a closing cost"
"But it's still worth trying. Not because the odds are particularly good, mind you, but considering the alternative. There's value in the struggle. Value in touching the raw and bloody parts of our soul, opening them up to the sunlight and hoping they heal."

Touching her, wanting her, felt as crucial as oxygen.

"Some fears kill us. They drain us our whole lives, and we die filled with regret. But this isn't one of those fears. Make a plan. It doesn't have to be now, but you know the only way to get better at driving."

"Loving you is like sinking into a warm bath after a lifetime of feeling cold down to the bones."

Somehow tonight he'd walked through a doorway to an alternate reality.
Only in another dimension would Clara have let him hold her and kiss her and touch her without a list of reasons on handy to justify the intimacy.
His molecules had rerranged to give him this shot at loving her.

He'd give Clara everything he had, even if it killed him.
This is killing ME

At least she hadn't asked him if he was in love with her. He'd never been any good at lying.
🦋I'm screaming🦋

The idea that Clara wasn't desirable, wasn't inherently lovable, made him irrationally furious.

That if you pushed through the discomfort of social stigma you learned something that made your life exponentially better.

Josh Conners, ladies and gentleman🤩

Sometimes we think we want something until it's time to live with the consequences.
