I’m usually a big fan of urban fantasy, but I really just couldn’t get into this one. It reads like overly edgy fanfiction. The main character is an edgy, masculine babe who says offensive things I’ve come to expect out of the mouth of Clive Cussler characters. I enjoy a good witty one-liner, sure, but this? There’s nothing going for me. I’m also not into the instantly in love thing. I read 100 pages, but it just wasn’t good writing and the plot, even though it had finally begun to materialize, seems like it would have better lent itself to YA than adult lit. But then, of course, the author would have to leave out the over hasty sex and make out scenes, which seems unlikely since that seems to be half the driving force of the plot.

This book is a DNF for me. I don’t recommend it.
