The Secret Language of Sisters
Reviews

'Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage.' This book made me feel a lot of things. It's a great story, but there was a lot of irritation and frustration that came with it. In short, this book is about a girl who decided to reply to a text message, thus messing up her life and wound up having locked-in syndrome, which is a rare complication that can happen to patients who've had a stroke. It's different, because this kind of thing isn't something you find a lot of books on. The underlining message is clear: don't text and drive; which I'm a firm believer in. The thing that was frustrating was the constant blaming. (view spoiler)[While Tilly should not have bombarded Roo with texts in the first place, (hide spoiler)] Roo had a responsibility to not reply to the text. I don't care if the person doing the texting in the first place shouldn't have done it if they knew someone was driving. You have a personal responsibility to not mess with your phone, and that's all I'm going to say on the matter. I liked the story, the writing was okay, and I loved the characters, but honestly it wasn't great like I wanted it to be. Still, I would recommend it to anyone who's interested!

I just couldn't do this book. The idea was very sweet, that two sisters were able to understand each other like that, but Tilly and Rue got along to a point where it was almost surreal; I know I can never spend more than a half hour with my sister before I feel like I'm going insane. Plus, the idea of Rue's boyfriend falling in love with her little sister was kind of ridiculous. I mean, if Newton really loves Rue and Tilly really loves Rue, then there should be no question about whether or not they're in love or something.

** spoiler alert ** Plot: I found the plot very....weird. I mean, the whole thing with Newton and Tilly? And Roo ending up not even caring? I’m mean, weird. Seriously, who thinks of these weird plots and actually writes and publishes them? Apparently a lot of people do, not just Luanne Rice. Characters: Roo: The character of Roo needed some serious building before getting plunged off the side of the road. Roo’s life is destroyed on page 6. Her character was given 5 pages of normal life. Readers need prior glimpses of characters before devastation so that we can actually have some sort of emotion when they get thrown off of the side of a road. Tilly: Did not act “stupid” as she was described in her first POV. She also did not act 14. Overall this book was entertaining until the end(no true conclusion, just a bunch of words)
