I started this very excited about it, but for dragged down in it as it went along, then I found the last act disappointing.

After finishing this book, I have to rewrite my temporary review about a genius 12-year-old mapmaker who travels through the U.S. to discover nearly everything.
Please use a printed book! 
Do not use an e-book reader. To make the story a joy you need to see the excellent drawings, maps etc.  which makes this book interesting for Designers as well.
The story plot is something between mind-blowing or makes you raise one's eyebrows in disbelief. 
However, buy it, make up your mind about the story - it will be a beauty in your bookshelf!
