awful awful awfulllll I can’t think of a single character I like, well maybe  Nicolas. Cant say for sure because I couldn’t even finish the 2nd book. Maybe because I read the master piece of six of crows first that made shadow and bone seem much more boring. Nevertheless I hated the book and almost all the characters especially the darkling and the main characters childhood love interest. Maybe also the main character herself. Very dull characters compared the exciting characters in six of crows

An Epic Fantasy

If you’re looking for a good young adult fantasy look no further. I have spent the better part of 9 months reading this book and I’ll miss this trilogy immensely.

I really like the world, a few of the side characters, and a few of the twists. It does feel like some first time author stuff going on, possibly—the first book in particular has some weird stuff with women-women interactions around shaming. There’s no real stakes and the two main characters actually bug me sometimes...But they’re quick reads and pretty fun. It’s an endearing series that obviously means well. Mostly I see this as the foundation for setting up the series I really, really love: Six of Crows duology.

Gute Reihe.
Band 1:
Gutes einsteiger Buch in die Reihe. Das Feeling ist gut rübergekommen und man konnte sich schnell in der Welt zurecht finden.
Band 2:
War leider schlechter als der erste Teil. Wurde leider sehr in die länge gezogen. Habe das Buch nur wegen Nikolai beendet. 
Band 3: Leider nicht besser als der zweite Band. Ich habe viel erhofft doch wurde sehr enttäuscht. Hatte sich auch sehr in die länge gezogen wie Band 2. Das Ende mochte ich persönlich leider gar nicht. Hätte man was besseres draus machen können.
Fazit: Muss jeder selber für sich wissen, doch weiterempfehlen würde ich nur Band 1

alina is lowkeys very dramatic and cant take the right decision. she never takes time to sit and think, shes so impulsive. But, overall the trilogy is good its actually one of my fav. Nikolai is a breath of fresh air in this chaotic books. i love him so much. i also love the sexual tension between alina and the darkling, even if i dont like them . Speaking of not liking characters, MAL IS LITERALLY THE WORST CHARACTER TO EVER EXIST EW after the appart ofc. he's literally so cringe, dramatic and so egocentric like hoe go get u some pussy and stop following Alina you are so pathetic.

at the beginning, i had really high expectations for the grisha trilogy becuase of all the hype and people that have been consistently telling me to read it for years. i don’t think that it was a bad series at all, but i guess i was kind of disappointed that it wasn’t outstanding. 

i really loved the russian inspired worldbuilding and i’m really excited to see more of fjerda, shu han, and kerch in the other grishaverse books! also the magic system just *chefs kiss* 

i didn’t really like alina, the main character, nor any of her relationships. although alina is the narration pov, i just didn’t feel invested in her because she was extremely predictable + the love triangle. and because there was a whole list of more interesting side characters, that i think definitely could have had more page time.

also the darkling is a terrible person and no matter how interesting he is as a villain he’s definitely not even in the running as a potential love interest. excuse me, this man hurt my fav genya and i’m not okay with it no matter how much of a bad boy™ he is. i’m not sure i even like any of the relationships but if i had to pick i’d choose mal. still wish they stayed as best friends, but at least he’s actually a good person. 

i’m now going to insert a whole paragraph about genya just because. she’s interesting, unpredictable, and her character arc was really well written all the way up to the end. one of my favourite moments (SPOILER ALERT) is when genya stands up to the king + her moment with david. genya is a strong female character, not just because of her impressive skills. she’s driven, ambitious, smart, and doesn’t give up. i really hope there’s more of her and zoya in the later books.
