okay. wow. the end! what to say. the mystery in this one was really good! i loved the serial killer aspect of it and did NOT see the twist coming at all. truly shocking. i think this was a pretty satisfactory ending to this series - and it left it open for the possibility of more books down the line.

now the series as a whole - this is a solid 4 star series. comparatively, I'd have to admit that i think i liked the Grant County series a little better. i just looOved Sara and Jeffrey and it honestly is hard for me to wrap my head around Sara and Will - i don't think i'm fully on board. the constant back and forth between them really took me out of the stories at times. also, since we were dealing with the state government and not a local police force in this series, i didn't love some of the storylines (like the cartel/gangs/conspiracy-esque ones). 

overall, no one does thrillers like Karin Slaughter and i will forever and ever pick up books by her. amen!

this sure had a lot of details about brutal rape & female genitalia to be disgustingly misogynistic and ablest by saying women suck for not wanting to have a wooden hammer shoved inside of them. i cannot physically fathom the mental gymnastics you have to do to write about rape like it’s a stepping stone or character development or something that must be enjoyable even when all your doctor characters verify that it literally tears your body apart but ... apparently karin slaughter is not ruled by logic, basic medical knowledge, or empathy. i think i would’ve actually loved this story if every female character wasn’t given absolute shit but i’m sorry i can’t support the “i’m not like other girls because i like being brutally attacked” narrative. stop it. get some help.

The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter is the tenth in the Will Trent series, but I didn't find this stopped me from enjoying the book.

A decade old case is going to be re-opened, with Sara Linton's dead husband as one of the people who investigated it, but did he get the wrong person?

Karin Slaughter writes tense thrillers well, and I remember the moment everything clicked in to place for me, and it was obviously the moment that she wanted it to.  It was well paced, and kept me hooked.

 The Silent Wife  was published on 23rd June 2020.  You can buy it on  Amazon  and  Waterstones .  I’ve found a link to where you can search for  local bookshops , including independent!

All I can compare this to is a mix between SVU and Criminal Minds. Great tension the entire time and fantastic characters. Will absolutely read again 😁😁😁
