I am in this weird phase with reading romance books from the 80s/90s and this one kept popping up so I decided to finally read it. It is VERY controversial and after reading it I can understand why. I feel like there was literally no character development and the male H was pretty terrible and never learns anything from his behavior but the female h doesn't seem to mind all his flaws and falls in love with him anyway (a little too soon for my liking but whatever). I feel like you have to look past a lot of flaws in the characters because it also takes place in the 1600's so things are just so different. I just wanted so much better for the h but I guess she was content for the bare minimum. 

 Anyway despite all the controversy this book had, I couldn't put it down and read it in one day so I guess that does count for something. With a bit more character development then this would probably be a 4 star.
