Between dragons and a badass female protagonist I was inclined to like the story before I'd even started it. I wasn't let down. Well written and well rounded with it's adventure and fantasy and romance in historical setting. I admit that up until the very end of the story I was a tad frustrated with the path that the romance took and how it played out, but in the end I think I was satisfied with it. There were no more doubts as to the willingness of our heroine to participate in the relationship. And of course, the end of the book really isn't the end of the story but the beginning of a series. I'm not sure what the next book will have to offer, but I'm not opposed to giving it a shot. However, I think the first ended quite nicely -everything wrapped up satisfactorily- and could easily be a standalone if you aren't looking to be chained to another series.
