I’ve never read anything from Monica before, but premise of this book sounded promising, so I took a chance.
Unfortunately, it fell flat for me.
I found Ellie had no backbone, and was altogether too easily pushed over by Jackson. I hated how even though she knew, and said many times over and over again that she needed to move on from Jackson, she still folded every time he was near.
I also found Jackson to be really unlikable. He states he’s an a hole, but never really tried to remedy that, even when he tries to go after Ellie.
The mix of sports and rockstar should’ve been right up my alley, but fell flat for me, sorry.

REVIEW WRITTEN DURING READING

Okay, I just started this book I'm on chapter 2.
I was and still am so excited. But honestly, it kinda annoys me that jealousy is the reason he is gonna start pursuing her. Not because he realized how great she is and that he does want her as more than a friend and he wants to have more with her, no because she decided to move on and he "isn't having it" UGH.

I want him to WORK FOR IT. He deserves to work for her and I hope he works damn hard because it annoys me how he doesn't appreciate how loyal Ellie is. 

Ugh, one page in Jackson's pov and I wanna die. The whole "I'm not good enough for her" bullshit excuse. I"m gonna murder him. Ugh, I can't with him. I really can't. But you know they aren't together but he is leading her on honestly. The song and how he was about to say something and Ava interrupted him. I can tell he's not a bad guy but I won't defend someone when the only reason they don't step up is that "I'm not good enough" Okay? Then be good enough. Work for it. Become good enough. Stop with the pick me boy shit. 

Okay but also come on! Ellie! I know she likes him but I also would not let anyone treat me any less than I deserve. She is letting him do this to her. She could cut it off actually try to move on or distance herself. It's not gonna be easy but it can be done. I'm mad at both of them honestly. 

So ten chapters later
I'm now on chapter 12 and I'm glad Ellie is now taking control of the situation and trying to move on. Well not with much success since Jackson is kinda in the way whenever she tries but she isn't gonna let him walk all over her now. And I really hope she keeps it that way. 

15 chapters in and I'm getting really tired of the "I'll mess everything up I'm not good enough for you attitude" I'm am soooooo done with it. 

Chapter 24 and honestly we haven't gotten very far. He just sang a song that is very clearly about her....um yeah. And I'm done with most of the book so I'm just curious to see when things are going to change and move forward in the story. 

So I have 4 chapters left in this book and I'll say that it's moving along well. I'm not sure what the problem will be later on but I have a feeling that it will have something to do with the record he didn't get an offer from that he actually wanted. 

Also, I can't wait for Caleb's book, which is next. I really want to find out if it's gonna be Baylee or Gracie. It could be Baylee just because she doesn't have a good history with them but it could also be Gracie just because they don't get along and they both have a similar way of going through a relationship but Caleb just doesn't want to get tied down while Gracie can't seem to find the right person. I really want it to be Gracie because I love the banter and if it's Baylee I'll come to terms with it but I'll be upset for sure. But I'm 99.9% sure it's one of them. 

Well, I didn't expect a guy attacking her to be the climax of the book but it was an interesting change and I think it was good for these characters because I would've hated it if he messed up and then the whole "I'm not good enough I knew I would mess up" Thing got in the way and honestly that type of attitude will always be annoying to me. 

Ooooooo okay. So Gracie is moving in with Eli and Caleb. This is gonna be interesting. 

I'm happy that they are going on tour together because long-distance would be torture for both of them. 

okay, last time I talk about Caleb I swear. I think it could be Baylee. Because there is a fourth book and we don't know who it's going to be about. So despite Gracie moving in with Eli and Caleb, It could still be Baylee because they have history and the fourth book could mean the story is about Gracie. So Caleb would end up with Baylee. I really hope not though. Or it could be a love triangle which would suck because I really hate them. But I doubt it. 

But...
I'm done!
I liked the book overall and I feel like I always say that but I did like this book more than The first one. And despite Jackson getting on my nervous most of the time, I liked the end of their story.

Couldn’t find any sense to it. I know that was the intention of the book, but I think it was too much.
