The Storyteller Tales Out of Loneliness
This is the first major collection of short stories from the legendary German-Jewish critic and philosopher Walter Benjamin (1892-1940). Benjamin is best known for his groundbreaking studies on literature, including works on Goethe and Kafka, and for his books Illuminations, One Way Street and The Arcades Project. Translated and collected for the first time, The Storyteller includes some of his most accessible and engaging writing, with forms ranging from novellas, fables, histories, aphorisms, parables, and riddles. Benjamin's prose serves to illuminate his far-reaching philosophical project and explores themes of mythology, childhood imagination, and social justice.
