The Takeover MILES HIGH CLUB #2

T. L. Swan2020
In bestselling author T L Swan's second hot installment to the Miles High Club series, he's sexy, rich, and her mortal enemy. Hate never felt so good. I first met Tristan Miles at a meeting where he was trying to take over my late husband's company. He was powerful, arrogant, and infuriatingly gorgeous, and I hated him with every cell in my body. In the shock of the century, he called me three days later and asked me on a date. I would rather die than date a man like him--though I do have to admit it was good for the ego. Turning him down was the highlight of my year. Six months later, he was the guest speaker at a conference I attended in France. Still arrogant and infuriating--but this time, surprisingly charming and witty. When he looked at me, I got butterflies. But I can't go there. He's just a player in a hot suit, and I'm just a widow with three unruly sons. I just need this conference to be over. Because everybody knows that Tristan Miles always gets what he wants...and what he wants is me.

Tristan Miles is everything. This had me kicking my feet and laughing way more than I thought. His possessiveness wasn't overbearing to where I got the ick. Everything was just so sweet! I loved the ending and Low key wish it wasn't as rushed but still great. I was nervous when i found out, she was a single mom with 3 kids but I felt like it was done really well all around.

it was ok. i loved the 3 sons in the book. it was a pretty good book but too fucking long. why did they have to break up 20 pages before the ending and then be together again?!? i love Tristan but im not going to continue this series because like i said TOO FUCKING LONG. 4⭐️

Giving this 3 stars only because the ending wasnt actually that bad & i was so glad to finally see something that actually felt real (if that even makes sense). The humour is of a wattpad fanfiction & the sex scenes are equally bad. 😭 I feel like the plot had sm potential but the sex scenes messed it up real bad.

4.5 stars for my four fav boys (Tristan and Claire’s kids) and .5 for Christoper and Elliot.

Claire has no love from me. She was just not it. She really didn’t treat Tristan well towards the ending and didn’t even grovel. He didn’t deserve that from her.

But seriously, I love the boys so much. They all had great character arcs. Especially harry and fletcher. Patrick was always a darling.

SOLID 5/5* Two words.. 👏🏽 DADDY 👏🏽 TRISTAN!!!!! Good god this book was so dang good. My expectations were not that high after finishing Emily and Jamesons book, but this one is pure gold. I loved every single bit of it. Their chemistry and wisecracks were so entertaining I could not get enough of it. I ADORE Claire. She’s strong, witty, independent and is portrayed as such an admirable mother. And don’t get me started on Tristan. I loved him in The Stopover, but he truly shined in this 2nd installment. I love that their issues were realistic and mature. It was a refreshing romantic story to read. As a mom I could relate to Claire’s concerns and hesitation, but I was fucking putty when it came to Tristan. WHAT A MAN. The kids were such a joy to read about too. The relationship between Tris and the boys had me laughing my butt off then crying my eyes out. It was so sweet and so heartwarming I will not get over it. Ugh what a delightful read. Definitely my favorite of the two so far! Tristan Miles has officially taken me over.

THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS, SO FAIR WARNING, UPON READING THE REVIEW. The Takeover is the second book in the “The Miles High Club” series and I have to be honest, I had super high expectations of this one. So many readers I know have raved and gushed about this one and how much better it was than even The Stopover, so I was expecting it to completely blow me out of the water. And alas, I have to admit that it didn’t, in fact, I am a bit disappointed in this one here. I really expected this one to deliver so much more for me than it actually did. I know I MUST be in the minority where these books are concerned and honestly it boiled it all down to one factor (which I will get to below) now I am not saying that I didn’t enjoy it, because I did, but it felt a bit more lackluster than what I was expecting to find in this one here. I definitely think I had too high of expectations for this one here. So that couldn’t have been an attributing factor. THE TAKEOVER IS A SEXY MATURE ROMANCE THAT DELIVERS IN SOME BEAUTIFUL WAYS THAT FEATURE: Tristan Miles– Alpha male, charismatic, protective of family, determined and strong Claire Anderson-Widow and single mother of three boys, head of her husbands company, strong willed, protective mama bear of her boys and driven to pave the way for them. The Takeover is a story that sets off with the heroine, who is struggling to keep her company above water. She is determined to make sure it’s thriving by the time her sons are of age to take over and run things. She wants to preserve her late husband’s memory the best that she can. But when Tristan Miles makes an offer on her company, she only sees him as the enemy and as a cocky arrogant man and she will do anything to keep that from happening. Claire never imagined that six months later, when she was attending a seminar that the keynote speaker would be none other than Tristan Miles, and the battle of wills is drawn. But through this week of the seminar somehow Claire sees a side of Tristan that she never expected to. Even though there is an intimacy that builds between Claire and Tristan that week, Claire knows there is no future for them. Her life is chaotic in the best of times, and she knows that Tristan deserves more than what she can give him. But Tristan is determined to show Claire how sincere he is, but never expected winning her heart would also have her sons captivating his in return, but can these two opposites find their way towards their HEA? The Takeover is a sexy romance that definitely had such promise and delightful moments that I couldn’t get enough. I will say that Tristan is my book boyfriend, I truly adored his character in so many ways. After seeing his character in the first book, I was even more excited to begin this one here. But I never imagined that I would struggle with the heroine so much. And yes she is the primary reason for the rating on this one. I struggled so much with Claire, I can’t even tell you. I really am not a fan of these “prickly” heroine types and at first, I was hoping she would mellow out, but to be honest, she doesn’t, and especially the last 15% of the book, well, let’s just say I wanted to chuck my kindle against the wall (and I rarely feel that way) but in this one I did. She drove me bananas, I understand in some ways why she was so defensive, but I couldn’t understand why she kept pushing Tristan away and being so defensive and she could be a witch and it was really a struggle to get behind her as the heroine. Because this was fairly consistent all the way through the book. Tristan just didn’t deserve her callousness towards him and she did have some toxic traits that I just couldn’t condone. Now as for the hero…..*sigh* I dearly loved him. What is so incredible about his character was seeing how he builds such relationships with her sons. Now let me say this gently, her sons are brats haha they truly need a strong male figure in their lives and even though for some of them it happens gradually, they respond so well to Tristan. And the bond that forms between Tristan and her three boys was so endearing in many formats. I do think all the high reviews of this one might have thrown me off on this one because I was expecting something so different than what I got. I will say that everyone is correct about Tristan Miles, he is one of the best heroes I have read in a while, however, the heroine practically ruined the books and it was the hero that saved this book for me, and was the primary reasoning for why I kept going with this one. I could have easily put this as a DNF, but I really wanted to give this book a fair chance and I truly needed to see Tristan find his HEA. I just wish that the heroine’s character hadn’t been so callous at times. However, I truly loved all the tropes that were blended well within this book and I truly think many contemporary romance fans will enjoy this one. Overall, despite my issues, I found The Takeover to be a curl your toes sexy read that will deliver in multiple counts, from the high smexy times to the soft endearing moments, and will balance it all out with laugh out loud moments which in a combination will deliver to a satisfying read.

1. A Claire.

Perfect balance of storyline, romance and spice. The relationships between the characters are really sweet. I did find in some parts the story dragged and then was rushed in others. I did enjoy it though, and found it better than book 1. Onto book 3!

This was such a pleasant surprise, especially considering I gave The Stopover only 2 stars and was so disappointed with it. I am so glad I decided to read this one. How can I even sum up all the things I loved about it?! First off, it was fucking hilarious. I have never read a book that made me laugh out loud like this before. I knew prior to reading that it was supposedly a funny book, but I didn't believe it was "laugh out loud" funny. I was so wrong. Tristan and Claire's banter and humor with each other was exactly the kind of humor that I die for. It wasn't coy and light teasing - it was straight up roasting each other constantly and I was absolutely here for it. Claire's character was such a breath of fresh air. I am tired of reading about women with zero physical flaws and perfect bodies. Claire felt real and relatable and I loved that a man, who's described as incredibly physically attractive as Tristan, could find a woman with cellulite and stretch marks so irresistible. Love that for her and for us women with cellulite and stretch marks. Another thing I appreciated was how mature Claire and Tristan were. This was such a relief because Jameson and Emily acted like teenagers, so I was afraid this book would be similar in that sense, but it could not have been more different - and for that, I was thankful. spoiler-ish from here on out Also, Tristan fucking Miles. What a goddamn man. I knew when I read The Stopover that I liked his character (sooo much more than I liked Jameson's) and that's exactly why I decided to read his book. Not only did I love the progression of him falling in love with Claire and just being the most precious knight in shining armor ever, but also, how he fell in love with each one of her sons. It warmed my heart so, so much. I don't normally give a single shit about stories with kids, but ugh, it completely melted me. His relationships with each one of her sons were unique and felt so genuine. I adored this part of the book way more than I thought I would. God, I also did not fucking expect to cry so much towards the end?? Omg. It was so touching and heartfelt and that completely caught me off guard. When he told her he wanted to adopt her kids and was like 1000000% dedicated to loving her and them - it broke me. Especially when she just couldn't let it happen. He was so hurt and that was heartbreaking. My only complaint was that the ending felt hella rushed, but that's ok. This was still easily 5 stars for me. Also, I'm pretty sure the author is English, right? Are the characters supposed to be American? Cause they sure as hell don't read that way lmao I don't care, but I thought it was funny. What a treat of a story. Would def recommend!

Loved this book it's the right amount of cheesy and fun and drama all at once highly recommend it I loved the kids ... they made this book way more enjoyable transformed it from a 3 star to a 5 star. Tristen is amazing and the right dose of alpha male that we all love My favorite scenes are of him with the kids and especially harry. I kinda am wishing for book 2 of Tristen handling anderson media and teaching HIS SON how to run it and just watching this family live life cuz i Feel like i need way more scenes of this happy family. if this was a tv show it will be perfect and it will continue for many many seasons. Loved it.
