It is told by an unnamed narrator who endeavors to convince the reader of his sanity, while describing a murder he committed. The victim was an old man with a filmy "vulture-eye", as the narrator calls it. The murder is carefully calculated, and the murderer hides the body by dismembering it and hiding it under the floorboards. Ultimately the narrator's guilt manifests itself in the form of the sound--possibly hallucinatory--of the old man's heart still beating under the floorboards.

This must be beyond my English comprehension because I didn’t see any point of the stories. 

I only enjoyed The Black Cat and The Cask of Amontillado

i still find this as haunting as the first time i read this when i was younger. though i gave it 3 stars now, this is such a riveting read that i think everybody should read at least once in their lives. (ps. younger me would have probably given this 5 stars)

I've read this in English classes here and there, but I read it properly for the first time today.

Story time: I've been watching a lot of The Following recently, in which murders take place in the name of Edgar Allen Poe - the killers use his works to inspire methods of murder. 

In one episode, a "street performer" recites Poe, wearing a mask of Poe's face, before promptly setting fire to a man on the street. I watched that episode at 6am this morning, so you can imagine my shock when I opened my English paper to find a picture of Poe's face at the top. It was a highly disturbing moment to say the least. 

"The Tell Tale Heart" is an eerie tale of insanity, of murder, of an unreliable narrator, all packed into 3 A4 pages. We read this out loud in class, and that really highlights the literary techniques used to tell such a captivating tale in such a short amount of time, such as repetition of important themes or words. 

There's not a lot of content to review here, but what is there is disturbing but well written.

I listens to the audiobook narrated by Matthew Gray Gubler and it was phenomenal!! I think Gubler did an amazing job in the way he portrayed the narrator -- I was thoroughly creeped out by the end of the story so mission accomplished I think.
This was the first work that I have read by Edgar Allan Poe and I look forward to reading more from him very soon!

This was SO GOOD.
 
Now, I might be slightly biased seeing as how I am completely in love with all things Poe and "The Tell-Tale Heart" is my all time favorite story. Still, I feel like that makes me even more picky about how it's presented.
 
The art in this graphic novel is magnificent. Our narrator is so real looking, so harried and wild, that it makes his stance as an unreliable person all the more vivid. Each panel was excellent. The blue eye, oh that evil blue eye, was piercing in its color. Add in some wonderful panel placement choices, and you had a graphic novel that I flew through.
 
MORE! I want more. "Murders in the Rue Mourge" and "The Pit and the Pendulum" are the two others in this series that I haven't tackled yet. That will soon be remedied.
