“The world we see is not the entire universe but a limited one that the mind cares about.”

authored by a monk, explains life on a philosophical way both from a buddhist and christian perspective in going through life.  I believe it shows how important it is to slow down in our busy outside modern life by focusing on the small things like maintaining relationships, spiritual paths and prioritizing internal self and our soul rather than the conformity with the perspective of society.

Emphasize in uniting the teachings of both buddhist and christianity and about religion just supporting each others ground.

I quoted down so many beautiful sayings from this book! helped me get out of my book slump and finished it in 2-3 hours! This book really does get me intrigued on reading other self developing books♥️ very straight to the point and easy to read! not heavy in my opinion!

How can in one book contain so many wonderful thoughts? In my opinion, this book is not a book that you will read it as “a normally book”. It’s more like a book that will guide you to some mainstream problems that happened in our life. And when it happened, you read it again as if this book will giving us the answer to our problems. This book really changed my point of view about life.

Initially I was going to race through this book as it's mostly a collection of short stories and prompts for meditation, but per the authors recommendation I tried to slow down and really focus on what I was reading and how it related to me personally. As a result it did help me to slow down and be mindful and more relaxed. I also highlighted and wrote down thoughts while reading per the authors suggestion and I think I will find that helpful in revisiting this book; It has been a great book to get started with and hopefully continue on in my path to mindfulness.

I listened to this by audio book, I think I would have preferred it in paperback. It reads like many lists for reference more than a story. Very helpful, relevant, and important lists! :)

it is good.. but for some reason i couldn't relate to it as much as i did to the "love for imperfect things" but it is good and it does help calm you down, just not as relatable as the other one for me :)

If you want revenge because your feelings are hurt, all you can see is your own suffering. But if you calm yourself and look more deeply, you will see that the person who hurt you is suffering too.

As I look deeper into myself to see why I am living such a busy life, I realize that, to a certain extent, I actually enjoy being busy.
