This book gave me major butterflies! I wasn't expecting a lot with this book, but I loved it. This is probably my favorite second chance romance book (so far!!). I loved the chemistry, the characters, the plot. I loved it all. My only issue is that I wanted more!! I hope we got an epilogue. The emotions I felt while reading this OH GOD. I almost cried. I loved it. I ate that miscommunication trope as well!! Will definitely recommend if you want a quick read.

OMG I REALLY LOVED IT!!! AHHH I'M SO HAPPY! This was the perfect book at the right time. Exactly the type of read I was looking for at the moment, it even happened close to Christmas. It gave me all the feels you could want from a second chance romance, and the unexpected slowburn was perfection! Also, I completely bought into their chemistry (which was goosebump worthy imo)and their love. Dual povs this is why I love you because it can quickly endear you to both characters while seeing the mutual longing, heartbreak, and denial. I completely admit to seeing this series around over the years and dismissing it based on it looking maybe a bit too cheesy or something. Well, that was stupid because this is completely my kind of romance. 

This setting actually reminded me a lot of when I was watching The Bold Type, which is a show I really loved and it made it easier to picture this office dynamic. When I heard the premise of this particular one in a list for second chance romances because yes I'm always on the hunt for new ones. No denying the longing and angst in that particular trope done right is unmatched. This premise of a girl being left at the alter but despite that managing to be in a friend group connected to her ex, but still trying dodge each other as much as possible until he becomes her temporary boss. Now that sounded thrilling and wonderfully angsty so I needed to read it. I have to say it's really easy to get into even though I wasn't sure if it was for me until the 28% mark and then Emma and Cassidy slowly found their way into my heart and I'm not complaining at all! 

I really loved the set up of this one and the fact that neither felt whole in their relationships with other people. These two managed to dance around each other but underneath it all still knew nothing compared to it. I bought that they managed to bury those feelings until they were put in each other path and forced to confront them. It was a slow journey for them to find their way back to each other but a rewarding one. Whether I'll read more in this series I'm undecided because I didn't feel the same love toward the friend group and only a tiny pull of wanting to know the stories of the past couple.

i knew they wouldn’t disappoint me and they didn’t. 
this one was my favourite from the series, i always suspected it would be that way - and i was absolutely right. 

what no one told me was that i would tear up a bit. it was emotional and the whole book was all playing in my head like a film. 

this was just what i needed when i needed it - like a balm to one’s soul. (too much? ehh) 

they served second chance romance in a rom com environment, and it was adorable. 

also, one of most charming aspects of this series is the friend group, which eventually becomes the 4 couples. that itself just warms anyone’s cold and icy heart. 

couldn’t recommend this series enough. they are nothing but feel-good, cute romantic comedies set. these books irradiate comfort for me.

4.5 stars. that was SO GOOD!! i feel like out of the four books this one was the best written. the semi slowburn between emma and cassidy was perfect and the way they got back together felt genuine and natural. also loved the dinner parties and how close the guys and girls are with each other. definitely my fav book in the series!

God, I don't know enough words to describe, to express how much these characters, all these characters really mean to me. I knew I was going to enjoy these series but I didn't only enjoyed I freaking fell in love with all of them and I will always love them. I already want to rr all the books and go back to these characters, god!!
I was so so damn excited for the fan favorite couple and guess what?? They definitely didn't disappoint! When people say Emma and Cassidy are the blueprint of second chance trope, they are so damn right, say it! SAY IT LOUDER because they deserve it!! I already loved Emma Sinclair from the other two books and truly following her mind and her story was the best thing ever and Alex Cassidy? What a freaking damn man! I knew they were going to be so good and painful and with a lot of angst and god they did delivered!! Although they might not be my favorite couple, and believe me, at least for me, it's so damn difficult to choose a favorite in this series, I did love seeing them grow by themselves and then finally FINALLY understanding what took for them to be together and happy! Their story was so magical and seeing all the other couples, being happy and the beautiful friendships and Julie and Mitchell's wedding? Aaaa perfection!!
Emma and Cassidy please adopt me I am waiting!! And plus Lauren Layne has become one of my favorite romance authors for sure and period!

I just always love reading Lauren Layne novels so much. She always know how to create a wonderful book with great sexy banter between the characters. Reader will finally get to know the true story behind Emma and Cassidy tragic love life. Emma and Cassidy has change a lot throughout the years that reader will root for them to be back together since they have crazy chemistry between them. Emma has created a persona of a Ice queen that no one can see her true self excerpt Cassidy. Cassidy is a sexy man that he has no problem with the ladies excerpt Emma. They have a lot of history together that it will takes some time for them to realize if they are truly meant for each other. Reader will enjoy how vulnerable Emma is that they would understand how she truly felt about her relationship with Cassidy. I am definitely rooting for their relationship because they have the true core of love but they need to communicate and trust each other. P.S. reader will also get to read about the previous characters. Another great hit!
