while ivy was fucking annoying, there was so many things she could have done to help others realise how vindictive and manipulative iris was. yet she chose to not do it. no wonder no one believed her. 

but then it genuienly feels like the author hated ivy, because her ending was so upsetting and she got absoloutely no closure. she was alone and while yes: its probably to show not everything works out in the end but what the hell? im sorry but no. nothing was resolved. 

also, i really hated the dad, i intially liked ty but after the ending? i hope every man chokes (and iris).

this is actually a 4.5 for me

it was a really nice read and my first of this author

one of the main things that brought it down for me was the cutoff ending

my best friend loaned me the book and I enjoyed my time reading it

I read it in about two and a half hours so I might not have enjoyed it to its fullest potential

I really enjoyed the romance between ivy and ty 

I think I’ll read more Natasha Preston in the future because this was a pretty good read 

I’m really hoping for a sequel!

Well written everything that gave the main character anxiety also gave me anxiety. Though, I felt like there was a high build of suspense and then nothing. There were a lot of different parts to this story but none of them really tied together. I was really let down by this book. But I liked how it ended, very different and unexpected. I just wish there was more put into it.

2.5 stars - I've never wanted to finish a book so bad. Not because it was so good and I couldn't put it down. But because I wanted to get it over with and start on a new book. Not the best start to a new year. The writing is pretty easy to follow so that is what bumped up the ratings. The endings on her books are always FRUSTRATING! I wish she has an alternate version where the main character actually gets revenge :) The 1 - 3 star reviews on this book are very true. I recommend reading her book "The Lake." Not this book... Very anti-climactic until the last 20 pages.

If Mean Girls mixed with a bad episode of Criminal Minds...

Honestly, I don't know where to start with this book. The first couple of chapters I was mildly intrigued on where this story was going to go. And then I kept reading, and reading, and reading....... and reading. Nothing exciting really happens until the last handful of chapters in the book, and there are 49 chapters in total. I feel like everything in between was very repetitive and predictable. but at the same time not possible to really happen to a couple of 16 year old girls.
Things that were going on between our main characters just seemed to be too far of a stretch to believe. 
And the ending was extremely disappointing and anticlimactic in my opinion because I spent so long waiting for something to happen, for someone to finally help our main character Ivy and it just never comes. 
By the middle of the story I felt absolutely no connection at all with any of our characters. Ivy, Iris, Ty, Logan, etc... I got to where I just felt like I couldn't care about what happened next, I just wanted to finish this book.
I fell asleep reading this story, waiting for it to get better, but unfortunately you just can't win them all I guess.
I've constantly heard mixed reviews about Natasha Preston's books, and was really hoping this would have turned perspective around on her, but I'm just severely frustrated and disappointed with this writing, this plot, the characters. 
It's way too dramatic. Almost like a really overdone soap opera. 
I'll be keeping my eyes opened because I really hope eventually this author changes their storytelling and puts out a book that really wows me.

So, this book had so much potential. It had the good twin bad twin thing that could have been written in such an interesting way, where the twins were both morally grey and could have avoided typical sibling tropes. But no it instead went for the basic good v bad twin. 
Now the middle of this book wasn't bad, in fact, I had a lot of hope for this book. BUT THEN THE ENDING. That ending ruined the book for me, it could have been so good. If this book turns out to be the first in a duology or something then maybe the ending can be redeemed, but as of right now, the ending ruined the entire book for me. It was rushed, seemed incomplete, and ugh just made me so mad. 
Overall, I'm giving this book 2 stars. I don't know if I'll read more from this author or not, but yeah this wasn't a great experience.

I absolutely adored this book, I was hooked from the first page & couldn’t put it down.
It is full of darkness, gaslighting, twists & psychopathic games.
I have always loved the concept of good twin vs bad twin and this book delivers that!!

This book was brilliantly written and I found myself fully invested in the twins lives!
I enjoyed seeing the dynamic between the twins and Ivy’s group of friends and how the dynamics shifted throughout the story.

I was not expecting that ending, but I am so here for it!!

I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves thrillers or is looking for a quick, dark, creepy read!!

Review: I had to DNF this book, but I was sad to do it. The book is beautiful and the plot is super intriguing. I’ve always wanted to read a Natasha Preston book but I’ve not been able to connect with the characters in this book. Maybe it was the mood I was in overall (aka super tired), but I just couldn’t get into the writing and the story. But I’m passing this on to my friend who loves Natasha Preston because I know she’ll love it.

Verdict: Not for me, but I wanted it to be.

I’ve been a huge fan of Natasha Preston for years and while her novels are hit and miss for me, I loved this one! The synopsis immediately intrigued me and the beginning drew me in and I couldn’t stop reading. There was great suspense, amazing characters, and everything was set up to where I had no clue what was going to happen. This book constantly had me second guessing myself because I would assume one thing, only to find out I was completely wrong.

The Twin is a thriller about twins in high school who recently, despite being separated, lost their mother in an 'accident'. The main story line is that Ivy, our MC, is a swim team star with great friends and a great boyfriend on her way to a scholarship. Until her twin sister moves back into her home and takes over her life. Everything played out exactly the way you thought it would, though I give it stars for having a good writing style and slightly admirable characters. It was all around a cliche and very predictable, but it was also easy to read and the only thriller I've ever read. While predictable, it did its job. However, the ending was incredibly frustrating and typical and took me out of the story when I saw it coming. When are we going to start getting stories where the main character actually solves the crimes? I'm disappointed by the direction the ending took, and while it did drive me mad insane to see it all happen anyway, I applaud the author for everything else she did. Three stars!

This is my second Natasha Preston book. I’m learning to fully appreciate her writing style (and cliffhanger endings) more so with each read. This was my first “evil twin” trope read, and I fully enjoyed it. This was an entertaining quick read, perfect for a night in by the fire with a glass of wine.
